I'm sure there is a you tube video that shows them crushing all the
22,000 AA battories to get out the valuable electrolites, and using the
leftovers as lawn fertilizer.

If you've ever taken a Li-Ion cell apart, you'd know that the
electrolyte would doubtless kill any lawn and im experience does not
smell too healthy for humans either. That is what makes electric cars
"green". Ask Nads.

Guess what happens if you pour gasoline over a lawn?

At least Li-Ion electrolyte is normally in a sealed container, rather than
being sloshed all over the place in little red containers or being
squirted out of nozzles and shipped about in giant tanker trucks that
occasionally get involved in traffic accidents.

Did you know that, unlike a typical place where an electrical socket used
to reside, when a filling station closes down they have to clean up the
lot in hazmat gear like a mini Superfund site and cart the soil and stuff
off for special disposal and then bring in new fresh soil and other crap
just to make it a vacant lot again before something else can be built
there?

a company I worked for about 1980, we used the first lithium D cells,
the did not have a diode or vent in them, so occasionally one would blow
up, like a 1/4 stick of dynomite. we had square electronic signposts in
LA, and a cop broght one back, now spherical, and said looks like
someone blew this up ! we agreeded. had a few go off at the plant too.

Proof you don't understand flow batteries. That *is* how you recharge flow
batteries, dolt.

The article quite clearly states that the existing fossil fuel transport
infrastructure could be repurposed to deal with their proposed chemistry.

And gasoline, its additives, and other chemicals used and transported by
the fossil fuel industry are all nice and safe such that you would have no
problem with a baby taking a bath in the stuff?

<eyeroll>

I don't even know why kensi continues to stick around this place. *I* can
barely understand the more technical bits of the things she's interested
in, and everyone else here is evidently a top-tier candidate for a
learning disability diagnosis. If *I* get this frustrated trying to
explain things to the dunces who have taken over sci.physics I can only
imagine how much worse it must be for her...

Replacing part of a battery would be called rebuilding the battery,

Yeah, sure. Oh, and a helpful reminder: on your way to work Monday

Exxon?

Shell?

BP?

Though I'm not sure paying a shill to spout climate change denial into a
usenet group counts as "dragging" them there. Maybe if they're using
slave labor supplied by the prison-industrial complex rather than hiring
Russian troll farms ...

Plus you would then have to throw out any battery technology which doesn't
use liquid electrolytes that can be exchanged, and I see a recent example
where such a battery produced a full 167 Wh per liter. Assuming the capacity
of a Tesla 75kWh battery, than's some 132 gallons of electrolyte. With all
the necessary tanks, piping, pumping and regulation that would mean. THEN,
you have to consider that the chemicals used in such systems tend to be very
toxic and/or corrosive and thus NOT something that you want to spill in a
car wreck, so now you need a crash resistant system around all that to
protect it from impact.

How big and how heavy is that car going to be now, and what's that going to
do to your range? Will you have to increase the amount of electrolyte you
have on board just to get the range up to something reasonable.

Then consider the gasoline pump in the US is limited to a flow rate of 10
gallons per minute.

How long is it going to take you to drain and then refill a system holding
that much fluid?

Kensi's car of the future.

Hey, Jimp, in "kensi"'s level of science yanking the dead batteries out

Did Nads actually imply that if you can charge a tiny little cell phone
"almost instantly," there'll come a time when you can charge electric car
batteries almost instantly? That's a fuckload of power! I wouldn't want
to be within a half mile of anyone attempting such a feat.

When you can change 'could' into 'will' then we'll talk. Until then it's
just a pipe dream like cold fusion.

Most people will tell you that "under 100 thousand"
is less than "millions". In fact, it's less than 5%
of your claim, which makes your claim bullshit.

And all it took for you to "prove" that was to pretend that there were
no Teslas before the Model 3, and then hope that no-one in the audience
caught on.

The total number of Tesla made vehicles of any type on the road is just
over 200,000.

200,000 is nowhere near "millions" or didn't they teach you that in physics
school?
