That article is 7 years old now. Has anything of significance come of
it in those years as far as forms and evolution of galaxies go?

That doesn't mean much by itself. John wants the galaxies to get all
retarded and precessing. What would be interesting is evidence of
violations of various laws of physics that would require, not that a
bunch of ellipticals are (non-retarded, non-precessing) disks.

>So much for your "discs are in the minority" crap.
>You gotta keep up, Odd

He said _spirals_ are in the minority. This says that many _ellipticals_
are disks (not spirals). (glad to see you accept elliptical disks now...
:-) )

Odd!!
This concerns you!!
Did you read further in the above link?
“According to our survey only a small fraction of elliptical galaxies, the 'slow rotators', are genuine spheroids. It reveals a strong family resemblance between elliptical and spiral galaxies once we can adjust for whether we are seeing them face-on or from the side,' said Dr Cappellari. 'This close relationship will need to be considered in any future models of how galaxies form. It's an exciting moment, after four years of work in the project, we have the final piece of the puzzle which enables us to say that text-books used to teach astronomy for over 70 years now need to be revised.'”

Galaxies are NEITHER smooth, uniform circular disks nor smooth, uniform
elliptical disks.

Look at pictures of them for Pete’s sake. And don’t squint to blur
everything out except for general outline.

Yes there is new data all the time. Why do you think this spells trouble
for a theory?

When biologists discover a new species of fish does this spell doom for
Darwinian evolution?

You can’t read. I said that SPIRAL galaxies are the minority class, not
flattened elliptical galaxies.

Now John, ask yourself — better yet look it up — whether the data showing
GRC asymmetry comes from spiral galaxies or flattened elliptical galaxies.
