A Photoshop script should work fine.

Other programs can do that, too.

I would need to look into it. But, sure, you could do the same on OS X
(though you might need to get some of the command line tools).

I admit I am not a photographer and did not look up the commands. Why type
tasks are you saying are too powerful for Photoshop? What about Lightroom?

This script begins by actually dissecting the RAW file. Photoshop
cannot do this, unless someone were to write a plug-in for it.

But any Photoshop script would be as slow as molasses and likely
no practical for large numbers of files.

Photoshop is only a GUI front end. That in itself is not so special.
What is important is all the back-end processing stuff. My script
merely invokes all the processing stuff without the GUI intermediary,
but some kinds of processing are not available in Photoshop.

Some of the commands in my script could not be "looked up." They are
custom C programs which I wrote to address certain processing tasks.
The NetPBM libraries makes writing such custom programs easier, and
being Linux, these custom progs can fit seamlessly into the pipeline.

How do you know?

What do you even mean by special? And what do you think competes well with
it?

So you have a custom processor for images. Um. OK.

I fscking squeeze every drop of potentiality out of it all --
and that's how it should be.

I program in Intel assembly language, where I can realize every nuance

I'm getting sick and tired of all the lame acquiescence that I
encounter in this group. You prefer the GUI because you are
seriously INCOMPETENT.

Is this an example of "every fucking detail" that you understand all so
well?

"Internally, Microsoft still uses the former 8.3 filename notation
because nothing else will work. The more "liberal" file naming
convention is just a cosmetic cover."

Or is your complete incompetence in charset encoding a better example of
your understanding "every fucking detail of the total process"?

"Microsoft implements the Unicode standard using UTF-16.
This means that ascii text files are now TWICE as large.
    Very stupid."

You are unemployable. Both because of your outdated skill sets, and
because of your obvious personality problems.

You self-immolate every time you hire on (briefly).

It gets to be difficult to look in the mirror, doesn't it, Fabian?
It gets to be too much of a burden to feel like a colossal life failure,
day in and day out.

And so what does your mind do to you? It helps you out by whispering
that you're ahead of your time. You're misunderstood and unappreciated.
You're not a failure, it says, you're a genius, but also persecuted by a
world of inferior talents and weak personalities.

People keep telling you to get help. But you know better, don't you
Fabian? It's not YOU that needs help, it's everyone else. You are
fearsome, you are potent, you are COMPLETELY capable and know with
ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY the proper way to do things. But no one will listen.
No one will listen. No one will listen.

Wait. Maybe.... maybe if Fabian posts on an unmoderated newsgroup. Then
people will read his wisdom. He will be listened to after all. It
doesn't matter that they reject him. All that matters is that it's
better than being surrounded by solitude and silence and that fucking
mirror.

We all prefer the GUI because we enjoy being able to switch from one
program to another and getting things done simultaneously with the least
amount of effort. Sticking to the CLI in this day and age with the
incredible power being afforded for next-to-nothing makes no sense. You
like Linux because it takes you back to the good ol' days when you were
young, when your dick still got hard and people didn't see you as an old
bag of memories. However, everyone else is enjoying these innovations
and isn't holding on to a "better time."

I sometimes fondly look back at the IBM PS/1 I got in 1991 and held onto
until 1994 when I figured out a way to upgrade despite my lack of
income. Everyone had a better computer than I did and had the ability to
change parts unlike me, but something about that shitty,
partly-defective computer brings a smile to my face. It was a horrible
piece of crap and I was miserable with it, but I somehow remember that
misery fondly. It's the same thing with you and the CLI.

We all? Everyone? Damn, thanks for including us all in your consensus

window and actually be acheiving something. CLI is not dead, it's in
your OS too.

Hey Maple Loops, you and Fabio are both morons! Only *I* still know how

well suck Gate's Gadeetsi! When I program I don't use assembly language.

want NO intermediate processes between me and my computer!

You guys are SO lost!

You will have to forgive these conspicuous consumers.

Their view of creative professionals is that they are morons that
require a lot of hand holding and are unable to handle the underlying
technical details of what they need to get done.

WTF?!?!?!?

Oh, Linux offers less choice here so you are just babbling. OK.

...hard to say. Without such a script on hand, it's really pure
speculation on your part. Plus, you have the problem that this task
is being done n+1 times. Have you ever PERSONALLY done that kind of
scripting with Photoshop.

Besides, I am not sure you're even "name dropping" the proper
brand name tool for this anyways...
