Odd
"Problem is, John: What if your "laws" are full of shit? Hmmmm? "
And what if QM is? Fucking "it's all random,
there is no pattern, we lost 100 years, shit?"

But, Odd
If I'm right, each of us
is a God to our MULTITUDE of Life
that lives on our atoms
and is IN OUR IMAGE,
meaning that ALL life forms around us
AND the circumstances of our problems
are continually reflected and LIVE
within us,
and we have access to all that knowledge,
somehow.
You don't like that?
Too... not random and not godless and
not scary?

What you are talking about, John, is what's appealing on a spiritual or
mystical basis. But that has nothing to do with science or the
scientific method. Science doesn't judge value of ideas on "Wouldn't it
be, like, so INSANELY COOL and full of HARMONY and internal PURPOSE and
all that tantric goo?"

If that's how you want to build your ideas, you rock out, dude. It just
doesn't have a single fucking thing to do with science. And your use of
weed is overtaking your balance, man. Just sayin.

You don't think the actual way things

So- when that Truth is found, Science and

BOTH are obviously wrong right now.

John, I do not think that science and religion will ever be the same,
no. And I don't believe there is anything called capital-T Truth, John.

What is true is that the human mind has many different ways of
investigating reality. People also come to conclusions about particular
things they hold true, to various degrees of certainty, and they various
methods to arrive at them. These methods are all different, though there
can be some light overlap, and different people use these methods with
different mixes, which is why people end up believing different things.

What science is, is not determined by its subject matter, but by its
method of investigation, commonly called the scientific method. That is,
if you're thinking about atoms, but in a metaphysical way or a mystical
way or in some artistic way, then it's not science, even though you're
thinking about atoms. Science has a particular way of investigating
whether something is true or not. If you find that this method produces
an answer that is different than what you might get from a faith-based
method, or a metaphysical method, or some esthetic sense, then what you
need internally is a DECISION whether you're going to investigate it
scientifically nor not.

So if there really is a Truth, and the job of science is to find the
part of Truth that is how nature works, why are you fighting against
science by saying everything science does is wrong with no explanation
of _why_ it's wrong (you won't even answer my questions!)? Then you
try to distract science by claiming retarded spinny things and
fractal galaxies are The Truth, all completely unsupported. Why?

Not that you will be able to do much distracting, since 99.99% of
scientists don't even know of Usenet or this newsgroup, 90% of the rest
know it's full of k00ks and don't bother coming here, 90% of the
remainder come here and see it's full of kooks and leave, never to
return, so you only see a couple here.

Oh, John.
Just a little caution here for you.
If you are thinking that a) you are a more highly-evolved being or b)
you therefore have a better perspective on this "Truth", then this
should be cause for concern about egomaniacal disorders upstairs.
If you are thinking that nonhuman highly-evolved beings have revealed to
you that science and religion are the same for them, then this should be
a flag to stop using shrooms for recreational pleasure.

Do you think Spock would approve of "It's gotta be precessing
spinny things because I said so!"

Also, logically, Spock would expect you to be able to explain
what's wrong with dark matter, point particles with no structure
and delocalized electron orbitals when asked.

John, let me ask you a simple question.
You believe certain things are true. For some of those things, there are
people that disagree with you that those things are true.

Now, in such cases, do you assume that you are right and they are wrong?
In other words, for all the things you believe are true where there is
not universal agreement, do you think you are privy to the truth? Yes or no.

Agree! Now, here's the killer.
Suppose you have a certain question for which different people have
different beliefs.
Say, for example, "It is wrong to end the life of another member of the
same species, no matter what."
You will acknowledge, I'm sure, that different people have different
beliefs about whether that is a true or false statement.

Let's just SUPPOSE that there is some Truth here: that Truth says this
statement is true or Truth says this statement is false.

Now, how would you propose that different people's BELIEFS get evaluated
for Truth?

Give it up John. Odd is a waste of time. I have carefully explained the
connection between myth, religion and science in my last kick-ass book,
but even though it's free all the big mouth know-it-alls are too
"superior" to even read it. HVAC could only quote what others said about
it since he did not dare actually read it.Same for Odd I presume.

Huge difference. Science doesn't have all the answers, so they keep looking. Criticism awaits (me) around every corner so they are kept on their toes.

Religion HAS all the answers so there is no need to look any further.

John, I hate to tell you this (not really) but you have had your ass handed to you in this thread. And I have intentionally not become involved.

Please John. Change your evil ways.... Baby
