Suppose I want to follow
a short, repeatable 3D pathway,

that WILL NOT make the same

It will make the mirror image.

Yeah, but so what? We're talking about fundamental particles such as
electrons or quarks, not spinny things.

Smaller does not mean less-complex.
Have you never seen logarithmic paper?
Reality is like logarithmic paper where
the smallest square CONTINUES to
be divided into the same as the Whole.

I always loved logarithmic paper, and
now I realize why- it's a fractal very
similar to atom/Galaxy.

And what makes you BELIEVE, John, that reality is like logarithmic
paper? Or is it just something you believe is true without you being
able to say why?

John is, unfortunately, not a very smart man, and he's well aware of it
but he is SICK TO DEATH of hearing about it.

So he has taken a strategy to how he thinks, which is his own, which
protects his ego from having to confront the source of his frustration.
John has simply decided that there are certain things that he is going
to hold to be true, without defense or argument. He isn't even really
concerned that he doesn't know WHY he believes these things are true,
because having a WHY isn't really important. What's important, John
tells himself, is being free to CHOOSE what you believe to be true.

But then he takes it a step further by insisting that other people do
not have the same freedom to CHOOSE their beliefs. Because if other
people end up believing things other than what John believes is true,
then they are being stupid, they are lost, they are clueless.

Of course, other people typically make decisions on what they believe by
virtue of education through reading and study. John does not feel
comfortable with that path, for whatever reason, and he goes so far as
to say that people who decide that way are being sheep who can't think
for themselves. I find it fascinating that John attempts to justify his
limitations by saying his way is the only proper way to think and believe.

All because he hates hearing that he is uneducated and a little slow.

I apologize if feelings are hurt. But I do believe that I have the right
to be as direct about John as he is being with others. And I don't
believe it's appropriate to hide obvious things, even if he wants not to
acknowledge them.

I just wonder if he can tell the difference between reality and his own
thoughts/obsessions. He is absolutely obsessed with the idea of electrons
and so forth being precessing spinny things, he simply won't accept
physicists' description of the electron, and simply having to compare QM
spin to that carnival ride and so forth.

What does log paper have to do with whether the universe is fractal

And besides you claiming this true,
What measurement supports your claim?
What experiment supports your claim?
What problem does your claim solve?

An answer to any of those questions would be a good FIRST step.

Not what John goes by.

John believes ideas when they seem cool to him, when he can draw them
and they seem pretty, when they fit in with some spiritual koan, when he
can state them in a dozen words or less, when they are just plain
different.

I've known people who like crystal healing methods precisely because:
a) these are not Western medicine, which they blame for a lot of things
so ANYTHING else is better automatically.
b) crystals are tactile and pretty and seem magical somehow.
c) relatively few people are using them, which means they might be
hidden or forbidden knowledge, which is enticing.
d) the same crystal can cure arthritis or insomnia or anemia or cancer.

Well if they spun, then we'd see evidence of parts of them move relative
to other parts, for example the north end moving east, the east end moving
south, south west etc. But the size is smaller than we can measure, and
is consistent with zero. So there isn't even any sign of any north, east,
south ends at all, much less them participating in any spin. So no
evidence of any spin at all. And, of course, if the size really is zero,
there simply can't be spin.

Why do you still say that even though Odd (and I) told you that is so
stupid, and untrue? Physics models are mostly mathematical.
