I often think to myself, "Hey, if I want information about what some 
organization is doing, I should just call them up and ask, and they'll 
surely acknowledge my right as a citizen to know these things. Then 
they'll spend a good twenty or thirty minutes digging up information and 
explaining it to me."

I'll try that with Google and Exxon and my City Council and Bank of 
America. Let's see, what's the main phone number.....

This does not mean that every self-inflating boob like Boyd Bushman who 
says he's unveiling the secrets of the government is therefore telling 
the truth.

Bringing it back to the subject, Boyd Bushman claimed to be behaving 
like a scientist. Given his credentials, you might have expected he 
should. But he was not. He was reporting second- and third-hand reports 
as confirmable data, when they were not. (In fact, it was easy to show 
that they were in fact fakes.) That a Senior Scientist from Lockheed 
Martin would behave in such an UNscientific way is a travesty.

By the way...
You blame the government for holding secrets.
Bushman refused to reveal the names of any of the people he claimed to 
talk to him.

his possession to run tests on.

Why is it a mortal sin for the government to hold secrets and perfectly

Is it good science for a scientist to say, "There's this sample of stuff 
that I tested, and here are the results of my tests, and no, nobody else 
can have that sample and do their own tests"?

Is Bushman behaving like a good scientist, John? That's the question 
raised in this thread, not whether you fear the government and hate them 
for withholding information.

Bushman said that he was NOT invoking his security clearance, because he 
felt it was important to get the information out of the veil of Area 51 
and into the public eye, because he did not want the Russians and the 
Chinese to get ahead of us.
But did he reveal where his sample of "UFO material" is? No.
Did he give any names for any of his supposed contacts at Area 51? No.
So did he lie about not invoking his security clearance? Did he lie 
about getting the information out into the public's hands, so that the 
technology could be used by US citizens to keep ahead of the Russians 
and Chinese? You tell me.

I'm not surprised you learned it in
