That is not due to velocities. It certain is for the bodies at the bottom end of the Hubble data, where the velocities are measured by means INDEPENDENT of frequency shift. So if one is to make the conclusion that the frequency shift is not due to velocity at large distances, but is instead due to other causes, I would ask what's the distance where this effect suddenly dominates and why? Tired light does not explain blueshift. -- Odd Bodkin --- maker of fine toys, tools, tables

Why is it that I only see Benjs' responses in other posts. But never Benjs' initial post. In fact Ive noticed no post from Benj for a while now in sci physics. ? Is Benj posting from another newsgroup maybe. [Im reading and posting through google groups from a mobile device. It seems odd that google groups deletes his posts.]

As usual HVAC lies. Google I'm sure is just following orders!
Yes, I've had numerous complaints that all my posts are cut from Google
Groups. Note that I use TWO different news servers (paid, not free) and
BOTH are cut from Google Groups. Hence, it is clear that I'm singled out
by NAME and not by which server I'm using. I'm not posting from another
group, though I do at times cross post to other groups from sci-physics.
And as I have posted many times in the past, I don't need to pretend to
be anonymous like Odd and HVAC because those in power know EXACTLY who I
am. HVAC doesn't know, but they won't tell him because he has no "need
to know".
Now if only we could get Google Groups to cut HVAC's posts. But
strategic agents are never cut.
Hey, Jay, thanks for the fan mail! I appreciate it all. HVAC's lies and
blather gets boring after a while.
Sorry you won't read this, but HVAC will and it will make him mad. That
makes it worthwhile.

That is a reasonable theory. Only I understand some posts do get through.
It is interesting that when I set up my USENET system I attempted to
post with no real email address (Nobody@nowhere) as I used to do. The
Newsreader refused to set up an account that way, while it did not
actually check to see if the email address was valid (as say some vendor
SPAM does) it was smart enough to know that such an address was not a
real one. So to properly "spoof" the Newsreader and set up an account to
post I had to start with a valid email provider (gmail.com) and then put
"none" as the user. And that satisfied my Nazi Newsreader (Thunderbird).
Given that almost no email addresses on USENET are valid you'd think
nobody would get through to Google. I wonder if Mr.HVAC@gmai.com or
bodkinodd@gmail.com are valid? Even more odd is that HVAC uses google
groups yet seems to see all my posts. Rank has it's privileges.

And that satisfied my Nazi Newsreader (Thunderbird). Why not use something like "nosuchisp.com" instead of "gmail.com"? Or use ".invalid" instead of ".com" the way "they" (the creators of RFCs) want you to do when deliberately using an invalid email address? That way, if someone "replies" to one of your posts instead of posting a followup, they won't bother the owner of "none@gmail.com" (if there is one). But no, you poked the big bear (Google) with a sharp stick, and now you wonder why it's pissed at you...

NOT SO ODD!
There are quite a few here (Odd, HVAC, Sam) who believe in censorship
and would stop all my posts if they could.
Posting from sci.phsyics using two different (paid, not free) news
servers. Neither gets through Google Groups I'm told.

Odd > Tired light does not explain blueshift. If the observed blue shift can be shown to be from source velocity towards earth being great enough to overide any intrinsic redshift from distance then " tired light" doesnt have to explain blueshift. And as far as Im aware there is no observed blue shift that cannot be explained by intrinsic velocity towards earth. (That is, a doppler effect) Anyways its important to point out that "tired light" is model created by people who rightly enough were trying to provide an alternative to the BBT. But incorrectly assumed emr to be particulate. If the physics community had been functioning correctly early last century, the observed " hubble shift" due to distance should have led science discarding einsteins photon model and going back to light as a wave only. Unfortunately pride and reputation stepped in and we now find ourselves in a scientific dead end hampering our understanding of all things scientific.

Most of what you say is correct, Jay, except that photons are real and
necessary to explain certain facts. Of course the wave nature of light
is real as well. The fact that BOTH these models are true is something
that all these great physics thinkers have not been able to wrap their
collective head around. But it's not as impossible as it seems. In fact,
the explanation is rather common in technology and the only catch is
that the explanation involves some unimagined properties of space itself.
No, I'm not going to explain it here.
