At one point Adobe Flash was on something like 95% of all desktop computers.
Might have gone down by now.

Idiot. Since when has that program enabled users to *create* "professional
presentations"? It is for *displaying* them, you cretinous lying dimbulb

The Adobe tool to create flash files costs real hefty dollars

And you lunatic clown claim to know /anything at all/ about IT? How
delusional are you? Have your meds run out this early again?

The word you worked hard to make synonymous with your own name.

And below you go off topic again... and pretend things are in contention
when nobody suggested they were.

After you leave the gleaming conference room, take a peek in the back
office.

There you will discover paper file cabinets and even fax machines!
All the modern trappings of the digital age, such as electronic files,
digital signatures, and public keys, are completely absent. The average
corporate worker still exists within the technological stone age and
employs totally obsolescent tools.

The do-it-all GUI is, in large measure, responsible for this lamentable
state of affairs.

Are you kidding?
When was the last time you were out of your parent's basement and

I work for one of the largest banks on the planet.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you interview for a job.
They would probably call the men in white coats to extract you before you

They'd call them in for their own protection, 'cause they know I'll
whip their lame corporate asses.

In autumn 2012, I was hired by the Hewlett-Packard corporation as
a C#/.NET programmer. It may sound paradoxical but it is perfectly
true. Even though I am a staunch Linux advocate, and despise MS
Windows mightily, my expertise in C#/.NET is better than all those
Microsoft flunkies combined -- and they knew it. During the interview
process I blew 'em all way. (They're all fluff balls anyway.)

Shortly thereafter, however, I resigned. Why? In the first place,
my colleagues were all Microsoft idiots, steeped in the principles
of Object Oriented programming but completely ignorant of basic machine
principles. Like all OO morons, they gladly rely on the processor power
and abundant memory to make up for all of their conceptual shortfalls.
(Not to mention that they are all obsessed and enslaved by the web interface
when a direct link between winforms, ala WCF, would be much preferable.)

Secondly, and most important, is the behavior of Microsoft itself. The
.NET framework, or at least some parts of it, are updated with new editions
as frequently as every 60 days. This rapid release cycle is nothing short
of insanity and HP's programmers are expected to keep current and to always
stay on top of the latest changes. Of course this means devoting a lot
of ones free time to studying the latest manuals and other documentation
as well as exploring code examples. After carefully assessing this
situation, I realized that between regular programming duties and
self-imposed study sessions I would barely have enough free time left
over for a shower, shave, and a shit. Therefore, I quit.

Microsoft has all those programming lackeys by the balls. Companies
are so entrenched in .NET that they can never escape into something
else. The hectic release cycle, with its concomitant certifications,
is a deliberate tactic by Microsoft to capture the soul and spirit
of programmers, and their corporate overlords, everywhere.

Linux embraces the venerable C language (and its OO offspring C++).
These fine and versatile languages are updated once every 10 years,
and that's how it should be.

Microsoft, and its insidious C#/.NET, can kiss my shit-bespattered ass.

Is this, Oddball, the prime example of your humanistic scholarship?

Pathetic.

Unfortunately, Oddball, I cannot rebut with another citation from
that Hollywood fare. I have not partaken of a popular movie since
I was about 10 years old -- and only then because I could not know any
better. Thus my knowledge of that despicable genera is virtually non-existent.

However, allow me, in response, to refer you to an ancient Greek drama
by Euripides called "The Bacchae." You may find that the character of
Pentheus therein is of particular kinship.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

What a fool.

But I don't rely on subjective assessments. For me, there is only
objective evidence.

If we were to go, right this minute, and randomly select professionals
of any stripe, pull them off the job, and subject them to an unannounced,
rigorous examination of their supposed skills, the vast majority of
them would fail miserably. (And that would include you as well.)

As one chief justice of the US Supreme Court once remarked, half
of the trial lawyers are totally incompetent. That is quite true,
but the figure is doubtless greater than 50%, and the same applies
across all other professional fields.

The corporate world is full of blatant incompetency. You may not
recognize it because you yourself share the trait. It only needs
to provide a semblance of organization and cohesion in order to
pass.

If the "cream of the crop" were to show up at the corporate doorstep,
he would be unrecognizable to the idiots who thrive inside.

You are fortunate enough to be living during a period of cultural
decline when such things are all that matter.

Within any truly advanced civilization, you would be less than
a churl.

But any petty thief could do a lot better than that nowadays,
and the job is not so fscking boring.

Where "resigned" is in the eye of the beholder.

Here's what really happened - After working there a month you made it
clear that you know more about C#.NET and the product than all of those
"Microsoft flunkies" that worked there for years. The other people couldn't
stand working with blowhard who knows nothing about everything.

So "shortly thereafter" your boss (that's 20+ years younger than you) called
you into his office. He told you that effective immediately, you were
"resigned".
