Dark energy is 'merely' a property of space. It expands.

We're dealing with theists with severe OCD, they will want to know where
that property "comes from".

And ofc the answer is that everything came from the big bang.
Including the space that we describe as expanding.

We are merely observers and reporters of the universe.

Yet you believe in ESP. I sense an unexplained dichotomy of opinions
from you, BJ. And it all starts with your unfounded belief in a god.

I still love ya tho. Bert too.

As entropy thins mass, space_time expands.

The known Universe is cooling and the distances
between the galaxies is growing exponentionally;
i.e. gravitational exergy is being consumed away.

Entropy no more thins mass than a clock chops carrots.

Entropy is a measure of probability of a system being in a state. It is not a
process. When a number of states are indistinguishable, it's more probable the
system will be in that state.

Gravitational potential energy increases as masses are separated. Physics can
measure the increasing potential energy, and, assuming conservation of energy,
that energy has to be coming from somewhere. The source of that energy is
currently unknown and called dark energy.

Likely, "Heat Death" (thermodynamic equilibrium, maximum entropy)
is the fate of the cosmos.

Wikipedia says: <<

  [[the Sun spews]] 4.26 million metric tons per second,
  for 384.6 yotta watts (3.846×10^26 W),
  or 9.192×10^10 megatons of TNT per second. >>

As mass dissipates, gravity itself is consumed away;
eventually, there'll be relatively none left.

Heat death is not thinning matter. It is when everything is the same temperature
and so energy can no longer be transferred as work.

The known universe is asymptotically approaching
a state where all energy is evenly distributed.

Once that happens, Gravity is dead. R.I.P. Gravity.

e=mc^2; so mass gets converted to heat, eventually,
per the second law of thermodynamics.

Rolf, you are lost in the wilderness as usual.

The universe is NOT expannding. The Big Bang is bullshit.Entropy is NOT
increasing. And even worse Gravity is caused by the distribution of
energy in the in habitable universe. Mass is aether and does not "get
converted to heat". There is no time. That is an illusion.

You are SO lost!

Hey Siri, clocks DO chop carrots. Didn't you ever read the Pit and the
Pendulum?

Increasing entropy is wrong. That is steam engine thermodynamics. It
implies God is a machine rather than an intelligence.

Or it means any heaven is outside the universe not restricted by the physics
within the universe.

Christians call their sky pixie the "living God". A living organism is
a machine.

Mass doesn't dissipate, some of it becomes energy, which continues to
gravitate.  Gravity isn't going away.

Entropy dissipates everything, eventually,
until "Heat Death" (thermodynamic equilibrium, maximum entropy).

Einstein and Hawking say that true black holes can't exist;
but, even if they did, they too would evaporate away.

Plug it (Heat Death) into General Relativity,
and you'll see that it doesn't curve space_time;
i.e. no gravitational accelerations. R.I.P. Gravity.
