xxein:  Thx Sam.  I recently saw a show on rain on the TV.  Talk about things we only thought we knew...  It showed how pure H2O does not freeze at 32 f (demonstrably at stp).  I don't know if they mentioned at what x f it does freeze but when water is still liquid somewhere between x f and 32 f and they drop a contaminant in (one that ubiquitous to most rain water) the water instantly freezes and thus a snow flake can form and grow.  It's hard for me to think that these researches are unknown to each other but you never know.

To just freeze water's surface tension would mean a lot to me.TreBert
