The answer jimp seeks is in the following linked article: Climate Researchers Plan Glider Mission to Edge of Space > http://www.climatecentral.org/news/glider-mission-to-edge-of-space-19472 > Not a lot is known about the weather at 90,000 feet above the earth’s > surface, so a team of scientists and aviators are going to fly there > using an engineless aircraft to learn more about what the weather at > such extreme altitudes has to say about climate change. > > It’s called the Perlan Project, and the glider the team will use — > the Perlan Mission II glider — will attempt its first flight on > Wednesday in Oregon, the first of many test flights before the > aircraft rides a column of air rising off the Andes Mountains to > 90,000 feet over South America sometime in 2016. It is such a shame that the jimp remains so ignorant. The glider, technically a sailplane, will be the first manned glider in history to maintain level flight at such heights. Being a pilot, one would have thought jimp could grasp the concept--but no, he is too pre- occupied with name calling and other disparagement activities. -- sci.physics is an unmoderated newsgroup dedicated to the discussion of physics, news from the physics community, and physics-related social issues.

The aircraft is not "technically a sailplane", it IS a sailplane, shit head. Nowhere does your breathless cut and paste talk about glider altitude records, rather it blathers on about the lack of atmospheric data at those altitudes, which is blatently false, shit head. Level flight has nothing to do with anything, shit head. The altitude record for a manned glider is 50,720 ft, shit head. So, is your breathless press release about high altitude climate research, for which there has long been a method, or is it about setting an aviation altitude record, shit head? -- Jim Pennino

The answer jimp seeks is in the following linked article--but the senile old jimp doesn't even remember the question. Poor sod. Climate Researchers Plan Glider Mission to Edge of Space > http://www.climatecentral.org/news/glider-mission-to-edge-of-space-19472 > Not a lot is known about the weather at 90,000 feet above the earth’s > surface, so a team of scientists and aviators are going to fly there > using an engineless aircraft to learn more about what the weather at > such extreme altitudes has to say about climate change. 'Tis such a shame that the jimp remains so ignorant. The glider, technically a sailplane, will be the first manned glider in history to *maintain level flight at such heights* . Being a pilot, one would have thought jimp could grasp the concept--but no, he is too pre- occupied with name calling and other disparagement activities. -- sci.physics is an unmoderated newsgroup dedicated to the discussion of physics, news from the physics community, and physics-related social issues.

Your lie does not make it true, shit head. -- Jim Pennino
