Wikipedia says that as of 2015, geothermal worldwide power amounts to 12.8 GW of which 28 percent is in the USA. According to GEA only 6.5 percent of global geothermal has been tapped, according to Wikipedia. AP

Yes, with a stove whose DESIGN relies more on conduction than on radiant heat, you are going to have faster cooking by utilizing the conduction. This doesn't mean that conduction is inherently superior to radiative energy transfer. It means you're using the stove AS IT IS DESIGNED. The sun supplies about a kilowatt of power on each and every square meter facing the sun, without regard to terrain or crust depth. You do not have any other equivalent in terms of available energy with geothermal at the present time, because there are precious few square meters on the earth's surface where you can access that energy. Conduction heat is superior to radiation heat. Now is that found in the Stefan Boltzmann law and is conduction heat 5000 times greater of a heat transfer than radiant heat. As to square meters, we see that the Solar Power Plant in Nevada takes up about a thousand more land area than does the geothermal The Geysers in California. So here again we see that geothermal is thousand times more superior than solar. AP

I should point out that when talking about 'shallow' geothermal, at least in regard to deserts as opposed to active volcanoes, one is actually talking about solar thermal energy. It is the heat of the sun at heats the desert sands. The sand just acts as storage for that solarthermal energy.
