ODD, CHIMP, and HVAC … RELIGIOUS FUNDIES What is it about Odd, Chimp and HVAC? Why are they here pretending to discuss science? The answer is explained in my recent book found at hypersphere.us. They are religious true believers. Their god said it. They believe it. That’s all there is to it. Science is nowhere in sight. As an example, suppose I were to say that there is evidence that the earth is not the center of the universe. Note that I DID NOT say I BELIEVED this was so, only that there was evidence. This could be the basis of scientific discussion, right? Wrong. Odd, in that case would immediately assert that all physics books clearly state that the earth is the center of the universe and no other option is possible. You ask why, and he notes that a democratic vote of all scientists shows that they all agree that the center of the universe is “everywhere in the Universe at the same time”. So you say, this is nuts and illogical to say something has a center that is everywhere on that object. Odd is not swayed. Science says so and you are a kook for denying science. We should note that by Odd’s majority vote rule, no established principle or idea of science can EVER be challenged. To do so means you think you are smarter than all the rest of science and obviously a Crank. Chimp, on the other hand, will start with accusations of insanity for questioning his doctrine and thus have his main arguments simply be name-calling and repeated statements that the earth is the center of the universe. Period. No discussion. No evidence. You should note that all these believers will never discuss possibilities. They immediately paint your suggestion of some evidence (without having given your opinion of it) as you “believing” in it. In other words, instead of a discussion of facts it becomes a political rhetorical war with you on one side and them on the other. Chimp then makes his case by asking you to produce any official church documents that support your “belief” that the earth is not the center of the universe. Of course this is swindle because all such documents have been censored to exclude any such discussions. Since you can’t produce such documents, he wins and you LOSE! You are a KOOK! Pointing out that there are OTHER documents gets no traction because they are not “official” and hence insane fantasy. Case closed. And lastly dear old HVAC! Well, he lives in his own fantasy land so his approach is likewise to accuse the person bringing up the subject of being a “believer” and worse says you believe in ghosts (never mind you have never even mentioned them) and therefore are just quacking about a nonsense belief in the earth not being the center of the universe when HVAC says it is. No discussion of HVAC "truth" is permitted. The bottom line is that any intelligent and reasonable discussion of science ideas is immediately turned into a political debate with dog whistle shouts of “crooked Hillary” and “deplorable Trump supporter”. It’s all religious fundamentalism at it’s finest. The best solution unless you have lots of time to waste and enjoy fruitless arguments like this trio does, is to simply change the name of this newsgroup to sci.physics.religion.

BJ quacked Catholic! OH my! Well that explains a lot doesn't it! I'll bet HVAC and Chimp are gold members of Opus Dei doubtless both always wear a cilice and hari shirt. ------------ I was baptised catholic and raised in a strict catholic home. I attended catholic schools which I am quite grateful for the education they started me off with. However, when I reached about age 13 I realized that my previous questioning of catholic dogma was justified. As I began reading books far advanced for my age I began to question more and more. The answers I got from priests and nuns only solidified my ideas that there no god. But this only intensified my interest in the sciences and trying to use logic to solve my questions rather than blind acceptance of faith. It's funny tho how you use the same non answers and diversion tactics that the catholic priests and nuns did. Ford instance your not even upfront enough to state whether you believe in god or not. You do. But you won't admit it because you're ashamed deep down. Fyi I baptised all my children into the catholic church... Then raised them using reality and logic. I felt that they should have the right to choose for themselves be religious or not. Thankfully all have chosen not except my youngest who went through a Buddhist phase. Try being honest about these things BJ. If not with me or this group, then with yourself. Good luck on your journey of self examination

BJ quacked ODD, CHIMP, and HVAC … RELIGIOUS FUNDIES -------------- What's amazing is that the only one who has ever claimed to believe in god is YOU, BJ. Jim P and Mr Bodkin as far as I know have never expressed an opinion on the existence of any magical gods. But they don't seem to let it sway their opinion is the case with you. You believe in all sorts of fringe, or what I call crazy, sciences. Ghosts, witchcraft, ESP, and other forms of magic seem to be perfectly respectable areas of research to you.... To YOU. But note that 100% of credible men of science think that you're crazy and all you do is muck up and slow down the search for scientific truth. That's 100%. I now allow you to run your mouth in opposition.
