Wave height is defined as "the difference between the highest point, or crest, and the lowest point, or trough, of a wave. " Doesn't matter if the average water depth is 20 feet or 200 feet, a 6 foot wave is a 6 foot wave no matter how much water is below it. So once again we see that Snit is utterly clueless of his topic and should really consider STFU until he learns.

Sure. The point stands that confusing weather and climate is a mistake. We cannot predict with any real confidence what the weather in a given location will be a month from now. We can predict climate with fairly good accuracy. -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. Well, beside making it utterly meaningless, I'm not sure how SNIT can use this. Because now he's not only in denial of accepted terminology and standards, but now has to invent some sort of whole new method based on some mythical standard he's going to have to pull out of his ass. Because not only does he have to establish where this zero point is, but then he's going to have to explain how this specific point has ALWAYS remained at exactly the same distance from the center of the Earth since apparently he's unaware of terms such as "crustal deflection", "tectonic subsidence", and such like. Terms which basically boil down to one key point. That the location of the surface of the Earth's crust is a dynamic and changing proposition. As such his' universal standard is now going to be a variable which changes over time and different conditions. How he's going to compensate for that given an utter inability to know the particular circumstances for all of time should be quite amusing...if he actually tries to make the effort. In short......he just dug himself into a really deep hole because he refuses to admit he's an ignorant idiot that doesn't have a clue about his subject.

Wave height in shallower bodies of water are limited by the depth of the water. If the water is fifty feet deep, for example, then the wave height can only max out at about fifty feet as the height and depth of the wave are equal according to the laws of wave function. So, it follows if there is a 20-foot high tide then the waves can be 20 feet higher than they can be at MSL (mean sea level). >Wave height is defined as "the difference between the highest point, or >crest, and the lowest point, or trough, of a wave. Wave height in > shallower bodies of water are limited by the depth of the > water. Which explains why waves get higher as they approach shore. Further I'm unaware that any shallow bodies of watch have any tide worth mentioning. So your point is irrevelent, since the change in water depth due to any tide within that shallow water body is still utterly irrelevant to the size of the waves that exist within that body of water. > If the water is fifty feet deep, for example, then > the wave height can only max out at about fifty feet as > the height and depth of the wave are equal according to > the laws of wave function. > > So, it follows if there is a 20-foot high tide then the waves > can be 20 feet higher than they can be at MSL (mean sea > level). So according to you waves in the middle of the ocean should reach 1,000 feet or more. Sorry, but the tide doesn't set the size of the wave, At most it only locates where the shore line will be. IOW, where your 20 foot depth will be at any particular point. It doesn't alter the wave size at that depth, only it's geographical location.
