My cat's like that. See a sock, chew a sock. Worry about the
consequences later.

No, just a white crew sock. He loves them.

Yep, I read reports from a group of scientists that claim that the only way
to hold off the impending disaster is if we sacrifice Kensi by focusing the
power of the sun upon him with a large magnifying glass.

Yeah, tie her down naked at the focal point of the
Hale telescope and point it at old Sol.

Maybe we could rig up her professional telescope and get it to transfer
the energy through the eyepiece. Just a thought.

Bigger than that. I'm thinking something on the order of 200' focused down
to a diameter of 6' in the target area.

That would give us an area of 31,415 sqft condensed into an area of 29 sq
ft, giving us an intensity 1111 times more than standard sunlight. .

But that might be a bit of an over kill..

So let's go with a minimum of 60' diameter. That would produce an intensity
100 times normal at the 6' diameter target area.

Just send me a boat load of cash and I'll put it all together. I will even
include a nice gold clad throne for Kensi to sit in and you can feed her
some line about how her efforts to save the planet has caused her to be
selected for a singular honor to occur at sun rise.

Now let's see....custom designed building.....with a east facing
skylight........ a raised platform against the western wall.....gold clad
throne facing east.... concealed restraints.....

Oh, BTW, I might be able to leverage that check into more. Instead of a
magnifying lens, I've decided to make the whole building a piece of kinetic
art with various mirrors rotating and reflecting light through colored
lenses and other mirrors and even each other. Now on the date of the
presentation, the pseudorandom movement of the mirrors will just happen to
focus all the light into a concentrated area of the central stage. You will
just have to insure the positioning of the throne and her presence on that
throne at the proper moment in time. Given the use of multiple mirrors I can
massively increase the flux density and she should be vaporized in a matter
of a second or two. Luckily the frosted fractal patterned mirror that makes
up the back wall of the stage will diffuse and disperse the light so that
anyone out of that immediate area should be relatively unharmed. It will be
a most unfortunate accident that couldn't possibly have been foreseen. We
will, of course, immediately take corrective actions to make sure this never
occurs again.....or at least until the next time we need it when a small bug
will actually force a recreation of the conditions the watchdog program was
to protect against.

That would reak of foul play. I don't think klingons even carry photon
torpedoes as ordnance.

It can't happen at all. The sun has enough fuel to keep going more or
less as it is for another several billion years. After that, it will
become a red giant, but it lacks the mass to end up as a black hole.
White dwarf (carbon-oxygen-neon) will be its eventual fate.

You'd suck at being a genious President with a knack for science.

He never said that, you're lying.
