Microsoft How Are You Stupid: Let Me Count The Ways

Microsoft implements the Unicode standard using UTF-16. This means that
ascii text files are now TWICE as large. Very stupid.

Linux uses UTF-8. Ascii text files are the same length. Very smart.

Microsoft software installation is unbelievably stupid.

1) Installation takes a LONG time. In fact, installing the complete Visual Studio
can take HOURS. Yes, HOURS. But even small packages require an inordinately
long time to complete. Very stupid.

Linux installes quickly. The largest packages requires only a few minutes. Very smart.

2) Microsoft installations will clutter the TEMP directory with hundreds of junk
files that DO NOT get removed. Very stupid.

Linux deletes all temporay files. Very smart

3) Microsoft provides no information on the identity and location of installed files.
Some installations have hundreds of files scattered across many directories.
But what are they and where are they? There is no way to find out. The user
is totally in the dark about his software. Very stupid.

Linux provides complete information on file identity and location. Very smart.

4) Software un-installation invariably fails to remove LOTS of disk files,
directories, and registry entries. What kind of idiocy is this? Combined with
#2 this behavior can slowly lead to a massive buildup of junk on ones machine.

Linux removes everything. Period. Very smart.

All I can say is: "Microsoft, take your inane practices and go to Hell."

No, just stupid thinking on your part.
OS X allows either by choice.
So does windows.

No it doesn't, that's why commands such at apt-get autoclean exist. In
the case of Windows, right-click C: and do a disk cleanup and your files
are taken care of.

Microsoft wants to prevent people from having an easy time copying
proprietary software. Putting files in different locations is part of
their strategy to curb piracy. Since Linux's software is worthless, it
shouldn't be a shocker that it's so easy to find.

Once again, it doesn't. That's why commands such as apt-get autoremove
exist.

Try opening that Microsoft shit with a REAL text editor, such as those
on Linux, and see what happens.

Fortunately, piping it through a character converter is not much of
a problem (on Linux at least).

First of all, a Linux extX filesystem resists fragmentation despite even
heavy usage. Very smart.

MS Windows requires periodic defragmentation. Very stupid.

Linux installation depends on the particular package manager that is utilized,
but regardless, it involves only copying files to appropriate directories.
This process is very fast. Very large packages of a proprietary nature may
require some pre-processing such as decompression or other things, but once
the preprocessing is complete the rest is extremely fast.

Unlike MS Windows, where installation involves dll registration and other
DMA-type shit plus who knows what else, a Linux install only requires copying
and is as fast as possible.

Try it yourself and be amazed.

>

Apt-get is a Debian program, and Debian is a shit distribution.

Linux doesn't even REQUIRE temporary files, let alone need to delete them.
The only temp files I've seen during a Linux installation were produced by
proprietary packages, but even they have the decency to clean up.

Microsoft want to serve the software companies and not the user. With
Microsoft, software companies get the attention and the user can fuck off.

I have, and yes a Linux installation is very quickly done as are
updates. But I don't install OS's very often so it isn't a big deal at
all. If it is for you I suggest you either learn to install properly or
buy hardware that isn't just total shit.

Text is fundamental and always useful. But some idiots cannot
comprehend the obvious.

I've seen idiots construct MySQL databases when a simple delimited
text file would do the job just as well and without the enormous
overhead involved.

But no, for these jackasses, a text file is somehow too "primitive"
to be even considered. They are true losers.

I use text all the time. It's called "Notepad" on Windows and "Notes" on
MacOS.

I have no need for any text file for any other kind of application in my
life. Why would I need to use a text file for anything else?

Every time that you compose a Usenet message, you are creating
a text file.

It could be different. The required format could be docx or
something else.

Little obvious aside for lurkers: What Fabio is saying is that the
storage and manipulation of data (say by MySQL) is something He never
requires since his intellectual capacity never extends beyond anything
more complex than a small text file.

These are "iffy" questions.

Most users, due to their limited understanding of digital principals,
employ their computers in stupid and inefficient ways. To attempt to
compare their inane methodologies with some postulated ideal would
be an exercise in futility.
