Well, actually no, I don't think it's the ultimate crime. I think

But to this point, there are lots of options that would free us from the 
oil/fossil fuel rat race:
- Nuclear power
- Solar power
- Wind power
- Geothermal power
- Hydrogen fuel cell power
- Controlled fusion power

As far as I know, all of these are available to the public. Nuclear 
power, for example, is 75% of the total power consumption in France. 
Consumers routinely install solar power panels. Geothermal power 
represents almost all the power in Iceland.

The only problem with any of these so far is cost. Get them to be cheap, 
and consumers will switch as fast as they switched from cassette tapes 
to CDs.

Except for Nuclear and possibly Geothermal in certain areas, this is 
just ignorant green pie in the sky. None of it is really practical for 
serious power generation except fusion and it isn't invented yet.

Of course if you include hydroelectric in "solar" that is better but 
most places where that is practical already have it.

Iceland is a "certain area". And greens hate nuclear. They prefer a 
return to the middle ages instead. Just ask Wormley. Germany is shutting 
down all nukes as did Japan, (although they are starting rethink green 
nonsense). I suggest not only shutting down all nukes but also reopening 
the jousting fields.

True. There has been a huge fast switch to LED and curly cue light bulbs 
bases purely on cost savings. (I know I did). But the real costs  are 
heating your butt in winter. Sure insulation can help but retrofitting 
isn't cheap or easy.  Basically these are all a bunch of unsolved 
problems (except for secret solutions) that can go nowhere. It's just a 
bunch of pie in the sky fantasy to promote a huge energy tax. Even HVAC 
who lives in a total fantasy world is for nukes. It's really the only 
real option and even that is short term in big picture.

My actual position is that we need 'all the power'. Everything. We should begin with a government backed and insured plan to construct 50 new nuclear power plants over the next 20 years. But it doesn't end there. 

I want a program to turn out nation's highway median strips into energy production areas. Many are perfectly located to install wind turbines. The infrastructure is already there. No land need be purchased, no mountain roads need be built.

I want ALL the power.

Well, "every little bit helps" said the old lady as she peed in the lake 
(to raise the water level), but truth is that solar and wind work around 
the edges (especially with tax dollars to prop them up), but one simply 
can't cover the state of Texas in solar cells or bird choppers. Not to 
mention there are no batteries invented yet that can deal effectively 
with storage in off periods.

Of course solar and wind down median strips is a great idea to prevent 
something stupid from Lib greens like say using farm land for wind 
farms. (Almost as great an idea their last oneof burning food that 
causes millions of children to starve in Africa)

And of course you WANT all power, but anyone can see you are nothing but 
an ass-kissing lackey.

No, the infrastructure is not there.

There is no giant concrete base to support a huge tower and no wires
to carry generated electricity anywhere.

Adding wires under an existing highway is hugely expensive.

The assumption that any random highway median strip has enough wind
to generate electricity is dubious at best.
