I stopped using Google Chrome because, after a while, AutoPlay would resume, despite my efforts to stop it; obviously, AutoPlay makes Google richer -- TV rich/stupid. I run FireFox 56 because 57 doesn't allow my ( ad killing ) extensions; another money grab, I assume. For many frustrating months now, I've been bashing my head against the wall, trying to stop FireFox's "HeartBeat" from NAGGING me to update. The solution: Using "about:config" set "extensions.shield-recipe-client.enabled" to "false", set "extensions.shield-recipe-client.api_url" to "", and "extensions.shield-recipe-client.run_interval_seconds" to "-1". Before, "run_interval_seconds" was set to _ nag me every 24 hours.

I have a 3,000$ PC, if you count my 1,000$ ArmMounted monitor. 16 gigs of ram is a must; for file caching, if nothing else. I can't imagine anything less than a terabyte SSD. Mac users vote with their wallet and their STAGE time. Windows users vote with their wallet and their WORK time. Distro users vote with their PLAY time.

It's really not that I'm so cheap, it's that I don't want the dumb chips they are selling now. 14mm has hung-on too long, and I think that the security fixes are half-assed.
