This might have real-world implications. I was once a cub-scout leader, and
once we actually gave out 'orienteering' badges to all the cubs because
half of us got lost and yet managed to make it back to the camp before it
got dark or we needed to call the police to rescue us.

Why am I not surprised that SAMMY is all taken with this BoyScout merit 
badge approach to getting researchers to actually allow open data as is 
mandated by the rules of the scientific method.

It would be far better if they just had openness because it's part of 
the scientific method and promotes the advancement of human civilization 
rather than your own self-interests.
