Calling all physicists and astrophysicists, in particular.

There is a planet that has a diameter of 7,917.5 miles.

This is at a mean temperature of 57 degrees F.

Let's say global warming takes place due to a
greenhouse effect from higher levels of CO2 in the
atmosphere.

After fifty years of global warming the mean temperature
of the planet is now 60 degrees F - three degrees warmer.

Now it is physical law that a solid object when heated
increases in size so given a 3 degree mean rise in the
temperature of the planet how much will the planet's
diameter increase?

One foot? Two, three, ten feet? Or will it be much
less or perhaps more than that?

What if the mean diameter increases by three feet?
What does that do to the sea level? More surface
area for the same amount of water to cover so it
stands to reason it will cover the planet less deeply.
IOW, the sea level will become lower. So how much
lower given a ten-foot increase in the planet's diameter?

See what I'm getting at? Instead of a bunch of fake
global warming/sea level rise news, how about some
actual math from physicists as to sea level vs. a planet's
diameter vs. mean global temperature.

How about some nice graphs? Kensi? How about it? How
about losing the Chicken Little hysteria and giving us the
benefit of your PH.D. in astrophysics insight?

There is a false presumption
the whole planet mass mean temperature increases as well.

There is a false presumption
the mean temperature of
the whole planet
 increases with the planet warming.

The planet warming applies
only to the very top layers,
including atmosphere,
oceans
and top few meters of the solid.

Thanks for the clarification but it is erroneous.
Any solid body transfers heat via convection.
If the outer parts of the solid body become
warmer then there is heat transferred throughout
to some extent. The warming is NOT just
confined to the atmosphere.

Compare the Earth to a ball bearing. Heat the
outer surface of the ball bearing and the inner
parts, after a time, will become hotter as well.

The ball bearing will also become larger in diameter
when heated.

Of course the Earth's interior is way hotter than her
exterior. Ever wonder why that is? It's because the
Earth acts like a radiator in that heat energy radiates
out into space from the surface.

You seem to think the atmosphere is some kinda 100%
efficient insulation. It is NOT. Look up *thermosphere*

My point is that a warmer Earth is a larger Earth.

The warmingtards claim that the Earth is warming
due to human-caused greenhouse gas production aka
CO2.

If that's true then the Earth is not only warmer
but by the laws of physics the Earth is larger.

A larger Earth has a bigger diameter and more
surface area. So how is the sea level going to
rise even if the ice melts if, in effect, the
oceans area larger so they can contain more
water without a sea level rise.

The idiot warmingtards completely leave out the
fact that a warmer Earth is necessarily a larger
Earth.

But, the container (the sea beds) will expand to a greater
extent. Do you understand what happens to a circumference
when the diameter increases? Pro tip: Pi times diameter.

Unless you can prove that the coefficient of expansion
of water is greater than that of the Earth itself then
your argument is impotent. And, it just so happens that
due to the density of water and its compact molecular
structure it has a very low coefficient of expansion
compared to the earthen substrate upon which it rests.

Smackdown!

That made me LOL.

boogerWould you please clarify. What you typed makes no sense.
boogerSomething got lost in the translation, I believe.

That is true. Physical objects like earth and
water expand when heated. The water in the
oceans will expand but water tends to be a
substance that transfers heat well to the
surrounding areas, such as the Earth itself.

Water also is a good heat sink so it retains
heat. The bottom line is a warmer Earth is
a larger Earth and a larger Earth has a
larger surface area which enlarged surface
area will cause the sea level to actually fall.

These sea level rise cries of alarm are just
more global warming bullshit.
