Apple is in the process of buying back 100’s of billions of dollars worth of it’s own stock — a behavior indicative of a company that thinks its stock is going to become much more valuable in the near future. John Martellaro, of the Mac Observer wrote: "It’s Shortsighted for Apple to Discontinue AirPort Products", https://www.macobserver.com/columns-opinions/particle-debris/shortsighted-apple-discontinue-airport-products/ Then, John Martellaro, on the Mac Observer's Daily Observations Podcast, expressed that maybe there is something we don't know that's behind the discontinuing of Apple's AirPort Products. After hearing Martellaro’s comments, I recalled this article (or similar) from June 2017: “Boeing, Apple Could Build A Parallel Internet In Space" https://www.investors.com/news/what-it-means-if-boeing-apple-build-a-new-internet-in-space/ "If the two form a partnership to provide broadband access via thousands of satellites, it could transform how you – and the machines that surround your life – will connect to the internet." Assuming that plan moves forward, there would certainally be less need for in-home routers including Apple's recently discontinue AirPort Products.

Other piece of the puzzle — One would expect a space-based wi-fi to be efficient, secure, and with a big address space, in other words IPv6 protocol. Apple is requiring all their developers to make all apps capable on IPv6 only networks. https://developer.apple.com/support/ipv6/

"space-based wi-fi" would be expensive to implement, no ? Yet Apple is returning investor's money because, unlike Amazon, it can't find good investments. UnLess you're trying to ignore that stooopid guy, next to you, SmartPhones are second rate, compared to a desktop PC with an ArmMounted, 4k, 40 inch screen, a g633 HeadSet, a g600 mouse, and a g910 keyboard... none of which Apple sells.
