The problem for you is, that was a quote of Snopes *quoting a right-wing
tabloid to debunk its claims*. Nice trick, though, if you can find someone
stupid enough to fall for it.

The Snopes article goes on to say:

----------
However, the assumption that because the word “socialist” appeared in the
party’s name and socialist words and ideas popped up in the writings and
speeches of top Nazis then the Nazis must have been actual socialists is
naive and ahistorical. What the evidence shows, on the contrary, is that
Nazi Party leaders paid mere lip service to socialist ideals on the way to
achieving their one true goal: raw, totalitarian power.
----------

There were a few early Nazis who did more than pay lip service to
socialism. They all got purged, violently, during the Night of the Long
Knives.

Here's something Hitler himself had to say on the topic:

----------
Socialism! What does socialism really mean? If people have something to
eat and their pleasures, then they have their socialism.
----------

That'd be Roman-style "bread and circuses" distraction to pacify the
populace, not actual socialism, of course. Where in the above is there
even a hint of the people owning the means of production?

So, lip service only.

Back to the Snopes article:

----------
As to the redistribution of wealth, the socialist ideal “From each
according to his ability, to each according to his need” was rejected in
favor of a credo more on the order of “Take everything that belongs to non-
Aryans and keep it for the master race.”

...

The claim that the Nazis actually were leftists or socialists in any
generally accepted sense of those terms flies in the face of historical
reality.
----------

SPNAK!

In fact, I recommend that everyone read the entirety of the Snopes article
Sergio kookily linked to, long though it is.

Snit responds to trolling... likely far more than he should. :)

Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They
cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel
somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.

I could... but SHOULD I? And my Usenet service limits me to 100 posts a
day. I am ashamed to say I have occasionally hit that limit.

Amused how Sandman from COLA used to say I posted over 150 a day... when
that is literally not possible. Turned out he was including forgeries
his buddy Steve Carroll was posting using my name. :)

Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They
cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel
somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.
