Some "girly boys", who weren't manly enough to use PDP-11 assembly,
wrote a little (JavaScript) browser extension called "Discord";
it's IRC on steroids; popular on Reddit; gamers love it too;
and, get this, it's only worth 1.65$ billion... losers ! !

Jeff, do you post to science groups because you want people to pity you?

Jeff Relf exists only as an example of "worst case scenario."

Yes, Relf still hasn't learned proper Usenet manners, crossposting an
existing thread to unrelated groups.

As to last time I saw a PDP-11, yesterday. Sort of. I happen to have a
"PDP-11" integrated circuit, a Soviet clone of an F-11 chip. Back from
the days where PDP-11s and VAXen were export controlled but the USSR
would smuggle them and copy them.

I still have an S-100 board built on the Western Digital version of that
chip, a WD-16 Alpha Micro, and its successor, a still-working MC-68000
version of the same brand of computer. Programmed both in Macro-11.
(The 68000 instruction set was quite similar.)

In the early '80s one could simulate a PC on the MC-68000 faster than a
PC would run. Today the reverse is true.

When was the last time you saw a PDP-11?

Remember the Datapoint computers? I wrote some programs in its assembly language. I also wrote some programs in its business oriented Databus language. But alas, they were a couple of many skill sets I learned that I never found any later use for! Such as the IBM Series/1 EDL language.

First programming job, at age 15, was in Databus on a Datapoint in a
medical lab. Took results from a reference lab in NC, on paper tape off
a Terminet, lab values from a SMA12, also on paper tape, and keypunched
haemo stuff and put it all together to make lab reports.

Used cassette tape.  Clack, clack.

Didn't pay that much, but a hell of a lot of fun for a kid.

Yes, I remember the cassettes on the Datapoint. Compiling a program really gave them a workout! Sometimes a drive would malfunction and the tape would get tangled up!
