Yes, excellent excellent pictures on pages 572 and 573 of 2nd edition Oxtoby Nachtrieb, that gives me hope that I can completely solve the issue of Two Isomers exist of CO2.

I feel what is at issue is that the Lewis Diagram in chemistry is based upon an erroneous filling of 8 when the true filling is that of 6.

But, I am afraid that the only proof that will convince Old Chemists of Old Chemistry, is when a terrarium is vacuum made and then install one with animal-CO2 the other terrarium install fire-CO2 and watch the plants in animal CO2 flourish while the plants in fire-CO2 either die or languish.

So, key to it all, is this experiment showing that plants on Earth depend on animal-CO2 and that is call for alarm to save all large wild animals from extinction. Plants need their large wild animals.

And the signs and signals so far in science research is that my CO2 hypothesis-- it comes in two isomers is true, due to the recent report of a rather terrible terrible ambiguity of plants intake of CO2 as reported 20APR2018 SCIENCE by Hovenden & Newton. A terrible science research report of totally all unexpected results-- plants doing poorly in growth.

If CO2 were just one molecule, no two isomers, the growth of plants near fossil fuel stations should be explosive growth, but it never is, or, even along highways where CO2 is vastly more concentrated than away from highways-- but it never is.

So, roll up the sleeves, chemists, and physicists, and do the experiment where we focus purely upon animal-CO2.

Alright, I was wrong earlier when I wrote the mechanism was Superposition Principle. Although superposition plays a role in the Marconi 1901 radio transmission from England to Canada. The mechanism is Reflection of the radio waves bouncing off the ionosphere full of magnetic monopoles.

But here, the big work cut out for physicists is to calculate how much better is magnetic monopole reflection over that of .5MeV particles as electrons-- point charge particles. Monopoles would be spread out in area and cause way way more reflection than would .5MeV electron point charge particles. Keeping in mind no electron is .5MeV but all electrons are at least 105 MeV.

So, physicists, roll up the sleeves (wish Dirac were still alive) and calculate Reflection by Monopoles solves the Marconi 1901 experiment.

There is a lot to digest on the pages 572 and 573, but all of this is mere theory, no hard core experiment that would upset everything written on pages 572 and 573 of Oxtoby Nachtrieb. I mean, two terrariums vacuum suck out all the gases, reinsert animal CO2 and N2, O2 etc, and second terrarium fire-CO2 with N2, O2 etc. See if plants can only live under animal CO2 not fire CO2. Until that experiment is done, theory is just theory worth almost nothing.

Once the experiment is done, then have all sorts of second and third looks at spectroscopy of CO2.

Very good, Archie! You realize that your theory is worth almost nothing!

(actually such experiments have been done, sometimes by accident.
Commercial CO2 can be from two sources, one what you call "fire" CO2, and
a few breweries sell CO2 from fermentation. There is no label of origin so
if you buy CO2 you don't know where it came from. Some plant growers add
CO2 to greenhouses to try to help the plants. They never observed a
difference)

Arguably, pages 572 & 573 are the most difficult two pages in all of Oxtoby-Nachtrieb, difficult because of inconsistent logic, that is, they do not make sense, they contradict physics. So, I am going to have to replace that portion of Chemistry, with a true Lewis structure. That is what is at fault here. And let me start a new thread on the true Lewis Structure, for the old Lewis is based on the number 8. Why that is so is unbelievably unclear to me, and probably most everyone else, for the p orbital where all the action is taking place-- want to be a inert gas structure for all molecules-- that involves just the p-orbital, meaning 6, not 8. And that is probably why CO2 has two isomers, but Old Physics, Old Chemistry going on a theory of 8 for Lewis structure, makes the blunders it makes.

But a theory of Lewis 6, not 8 has surprizing consequences where we have H2O as this

       . .
       O
    /     \
   H H

and where we have dinitrogen as this
   _
N=N

which pictorially is that the two nitrogen atoms are superimposed together as one p-orbital

Same goes for CO

But for CO2, which Oxtoby-Nachtrieb just cannot make a consistent picture using Lewis 8.

       . .
       O
    /     \
   C --O
          . .

But what is consistent with Lewis 6, as shown in Oxtoby-Nachtrieb page 573 figure 15-17 (a) is when the P_z suborbital of O, O , and C are superimposed as one -- all three being one suborbital.

That would make animal-CO2 be that of the above triangular sketch

       . .
       O
    /     \
   C --O
          . .

But that fire-CO2 would look like this

:O-C-O:

And where the fire-- the extra energy places that carbon atom superimposed upon both the P_z suborbitals of the two oxygen.

From this, I gather the idea that plants just cannot use fire-CO2 for it takes too much energy out of the plant to turn the linear CO2 into a triangular CO2 to utilize for the plant.
