We, who worked as scientist, pretty much had to do our own coding. I
admire Apple for recognizing that our kids and grandkids need to learn
   to code.

I mostly code via Unix shell scripting these days.

bet apple is teaching them a language that depends upon Apple platform

SW keeps changing, you have to learn a new language about every 2 to 3
years.

also PHP got extended, rewritten, +new features etc.

How many languages are in use today ?

How many languages did you know ?

Anyone know FORTH ?

I it has finally dawned on me that the emphasis on teaching everyone to use the higher level computer languages is probably an intentional ploy to keep individuals from learning to control all the features of the machines as are accessible using the machine languages of the computers. That is how hackers can do as they please with your computer!
