The president used to have a short radio show in the mornings, and love Franklin sayings such as "A penny saved is a penny earned." But the government kept changing the rules on them, such as just how much money they had to keep in reserve. They incorporated and sold stock at one point to make themselves more solvent. The government approved their actions. Then changing the rules again, the FDIC swooped in, took over the bank, and sold it off to bigger banks. It took the founders of the Benj Franklin 20 years in court to finally get the government to give them and other investors !anything for their stock! About the same time, the government took over and sold off Far West Federal Bank, which was my favorite place to bank. In more recent times, the government took over Washington Mutual Bank. It is now merged into the giant Chase Bank of New York! Double-A
