Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago have helped prove that a new prototype is powered by a surprising chemical reaction that may solve the new battery’s biggest drawback." They also developed a brand-new state-of-the-art spectroscope to analyse the reactions in fine detail to prove that the lithium-air reaction involves a superoxide, rather than a peroxide.
