In his comment, the key work is "might".  While he may have been
able to calculate amount of fissile material needed, he likely
did not have a way to estimate the amount of explosive material
needed to trigger the bomb.

the size and weight of the triggering mechanism took some time with
physicists like Teller and Feynman to work out. That Einstein did not
solve the engineering problem himself is not a big deal.

Also, he may not have known the capacity of aircraft of that day.
Brilliant as he was, he was not all-knowing.

I never said Albert Einstein was a great artist! Why are people criticizing his..art? It's not art,
it's a design for a bomb..that he drew on his letterhead. 

He could have put it on a match cover...it's his idea, what difference does it make if it looks like
a 3 year old drew it, it's an idea for a bomb, not a Piacasso drawing.
