New particle hopes fade as LHC data 'bump' disappears http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-36976777 What does "bump" mean? I'm pretty sure it's one of those 'science guys' words that mean something else...but what? What does "bump" mean? Or how does data disapear?? I'm pretty sure if you use recovery software you can find it...

The bump means that if a new unpredicted particle emerges from the lhc data they can still keep the standard model but add a new even more ridiculous model on top of what is essentially the failed standard model. This type of cover up of wacko pseudoscience has been tried and successfully tested many times before. For instance when head snake oil salesman albert einstein invented the photon, it turned out that cosmological redshifting of light was not compatible with alberts imaginary photon. Rather than admit that they all got it wrong and didnt deserve their nobel prizes and high paid jobs envangilizing about an imaginary particle...the physics community at the time, covered their incompetence by inventing a whole new imaginary field of physics called the big bang model. Of course cracks soon appeared in this model. But as all good scammers do instead of admitting their failures. They invented an additional new field of physics and called it dark matter/ energy.. Saving both the disgraced photon model and the big bang theory as well as their tattered reputations However the new particle appears to be a random bit of noise in the data. So the tremendous success of the standard model can now account for both a new observed unpredicted particle, and... the lack of observation of an unpredicted new particle
