It provides additional sources of fossil fuels at the expense of
damaging watersheds. Competition between two valuable resources.

Whole towns suddenly can light
their water on fire as it comes out
of their taps, and no longer have potable
water.

Uh, what town is that?
The two towns that are the center of the controversy are Pavilion, WY,
and Dimock, PA. Neither of them have the problem you mention.

More supermarket tabloid fluff, John?

Interestingly, I have relatives who live in a town where some people could
light their tap water, long before anyone ever even heard of fracking. In
fact it is an area where they wanted to do a lot of fracking to get some of
that gas.

(never happened. I think NY disallowed fracking anywhere in the state. Also
in that particular town, it appears the gas-bearing strata and the water
table are much too close to ever allow it)

Hmm.
Because ur female?
Because ur not me?
At any rate, "It is certainly not in my nature to "enlighten" someone with the results

I hope it was not because I'm male..

The reason I ask the question here is that I want to
take a look at the final words of the debate coming
from a typical victim of such exposures. You can't do
that with googling. You have to spend a lot of time
reading various crap and it is much faster and easier
to ask it here, without imposing too much effort or
time on others.

And about some subjects (e.g. physics, Iran, ...,
anything that's invaded by parochial activities) you
should never google. It can only give you genuine
looking crap.

Whole towns no longer have water.
Oil companies are "fixing" that by
providing bottled water.
But I don't think I'd have a bath
in what comes out of their taps-
I certainly wouldn't smoke while
doing so.
I really don't know how they are
still in business after that.

Also, they pump HUGE amounts of
water down, in order to force out
the gas, which water is then unusable

Again, this looks to me an activity that should be
taking place in areas of the world (many such areas
exist) that there's no life. Who let them do that
right in a city's midst?

Yes
Who let THEM do that?
If someone ruined my entire
life like that, I would be seriously
tempted to go ruin theirs.

Saw it in CBC, Odd.
You don't have news down there- you have

I'm not looking at TV, John, I'm looking at news reports.
So you don't know the name of the town? Don't remember the TV story that
clearly?

There's a story about the tiny rural community of Rosebud in Alberta. Is
that the one you're thinking of?

And you think that asking here is going to give you better quality
content than Googling?

The quality you get from Googling depends on how good you are with it. I
agree that if you know nothing about a subject and aren't very good at
web searches, what you will likely be faced with is wading through a lot
of crap.

Actually, I think it was HVAC calling you
female that misled me, Clutter.
His specialty seems to be misdirection,
as does Odd's.
WHY would anyone argue on the side
of Big Oil and Big Pharma?
California voted to ban fracking, and
the oil company is proposing to sue
them for 1.5B, which is what they claim
they are missing out on.
I say, pull all their licenses, and a class action
suit on behalf of Mother Earth.
Also, put every one of their faces on
Facebook, so they can be shunned forever.

Enemies of Earth. Make them live where
they've ruined the groundwater.

Shut up, Odd. Get another 'nym; go choke
on your lies.
Have a nice day!!

I'm not arguing on the side of Big Oil and Big Pharma.
What I am doing is two things:
- Arguing against frivolous misinformation and false propaganda by those
who are opposed to Big Oil and Big Pharma -- like you, John. Spewing
false information does not help your cause, and it only impugns your own
credibility.
- Making sure that people who point to Evil Corporations own up to their
own responsibility for the problem by being the consumers of the Evil
Corporations. Corporations provide solutions according to demand. If a
car manufacturer can produce an electric car and a fossil fuel car, but
the electric car is more expensive by $10,000 and people elect to buy
the fossil fuel car instead, then the responsibility for fossil fuel
damages is on the consumer, not on the Evil Corporation. This speaks
directly to you, John, who are a consumer of many of the products you
claim to despise. Own that.

Well, you're right, John. I could have let him look it up, and I regret
indulging the profoundly lazy or the profoundly incompetent.

If it works everywhere why don't they do it only in
areas that no people, plants, or animals live?

Because it does not work anywhere.

It only works where there are petroleum deposits.
