John, you believe in God.
Scripture says that "In the beginning" God created all things, all form,
all structure. Before his creative act in the beginning, everything "was
formless and empty". These are words breathed-into by the God you
believe in.

So prior to God's creative act:
- Were there three spatial dimensions? Who chose 3?
- Was there time? What was happening during this time?
- Were there laws of physics at work, things causing other things? If
so, then what did God do in his creation process?

Well, have to be careful there. Assumes a law that everything has an
origin.

Exactly. But if 'god' doesn't need a cause, neither does the universe

You guys!
All that stuff is above my pay grade.
And yours.

That kind of knowledge you
can't buy- unlike your diploma.

Try India.
I hear there's an Ascended Master
that frequents the mountain tops.
The ones he goes to are only
accessible by air, but- hey- you're
physicists, and this is the Age of the Drone.

Good luck!
If you succeed, I'm sure I won't hear
from you again.

Exactly! Which is why assuming things like "Universal time" is above
your pay grade.

And so this is why, John, you jump above your pay grade to announce that
"The Universe has Always Been".

How do you reconcile that with "In the beginning, God created...."?

that was before the beginning.
no such thing, like going through an event horizon, or (-1)^(1/2)

That made me smile. I think I'll stay because you're here to amuse me.

This is a public *scientific* newsgroup on *physics*, and not your personal
private amusement park. Your personal vendetta with the blissfully
ignorant, trollish John Sefton is getting old and was never anything but
pointless to begin with. In particular, a discussion about religious belief
is *off-topic* here.

But if you think that you are not in enough killfiles already, then please,
go ahead.

John has some beliefs about certain physical laws that he thinks holds
true. Like "The Universe has Always Been" and "Everything has Structure"
and "There is no first, because there was always before." So I'm asking
him on what basis he believes these things, especially since he also
believes in other things, like "In the Beginning, God created...."

So the question being asked here is about how one knows scientifically.
Or if you like, if physicists believe this or that statement is true, on
what basis do they come to believe that it is true? If you don't think
that is on topic in a science newsgroup, then I'm afraid you're not very
good at inferring a deeper point, which is rather what I would expect
from a pedantic twat.

Yes.

No. This is opposite to directly above.

No. Never mentioned it.

You get things all mixed up in there,
don't you, Odd?
You know, reading a lot, you have to
decide who you believe.

:) How so?

Oh, ok, so when you've said that so-and-so is anti-God, you're thinking
that they're anti- to your particular version of God. Good to know.

What is your faith?
Do you have one?
QM?
Chaos?
Nature?

I don't bring faith into scientific matters.

All I know is that you have mocked me for being "anti-God" when your own
statements do not align with the Judaeo-Christian God. So you are
apparently anti-God as well, but feel free to mock others for it. What
gives?

Odd
You may want to read your first
post in this thread and compare
it with your last.
