For suitable values of “late”. They were first predicted in

Einstein, A (June _1916_). „Näherungsweise Integration der Feldgleichungen
der Gravitation" (“Approximate integration of the field equations of
gravitation”). Sitzungsberichte der Königlich-Preussischen Akademie der
Wissenschaften Berlin (“Proceedings of the Royal Prussian Academy of
Sciences, Berlin”). part 1: 688–696.

and elaborated on in

Einstein, A (1918). „Über Gravitationswellen“ (“On gravitational waves”).
Sitzungsberichte der Königlich-Preussischen Akademie der Wissenschaften
Berlin. part 1: 154–167.

I have a question for you.

Let's assume that the announce detection is a hoax, and that General relativity is completely false.

How would that change the world for you?

Huh. This message made it thru. What did you change

Nothing. Same laptop, same ISP, same Google Groups webpage.

Unless my ISP (Comcast) or Google itself is/are doing something different (and they never say so until it's way too late to do anything about it) it has to be something between Google Groups and you; your ISP/news provider or something like that. The intermediate layers of the internet live on servers that occasionally change hands, and those new hands may do things a bit differently from the way the old hands did.

Hell, maybe it's the CIA/Homeland Security/HVAC dithering on whether to allow my posts to get from my little twig of the web onto whatever branch you're on.

Are you having trouble with anybody else's posts? Okay, that was a silly question, I guess. If you can't see them you won't know, will you?

If it were me I'd look at one of their older posts )via Google Groups) and look up their recent history- Google Groups still has at least that much easily available. That way I would know they were still posting, and be able to access their posts via Google's archive, and even reply if I felt like it.

I changed nothing either. All my usenet activity is on
this device (a desktop).

Kill files that target a specific part of headers
sometimes work inadvertently on more than one target.
But I don't use them. I haven't used them since under
my other past aliases.

Hahahah :-)) I doubt it but, oh boy that'd be real
sick of some sorry ass among them. Homeland security
should have better things to do. Hvac is hanson (I
have proof- easily obtained from old headers) or are
each others' significant other, and unless he's
recently taken another leap downward he'd go to no
such length as to spend money for it too.

I understand this lounge sometimes suffers from being
unmoderated but those too serious about what they do
here can easily use kill files.

Yes. It's time consuming though. I spent about 45
minutes to nail hvac-hanson connection and still
regret the wasted time. Beats the purpose too. This
group is a for-now activity and works great as such. A
little hangout while you have a little time to kill.

That's OK John. We Americans are an inclusive bunch. And I actually DID invite you to share in our Memorial Day celebrations. And YES I did say celebrations. While we mourn the loss of those who gave their full measure in war, we also celebrate the freedoms they fought for.

Always remember... Without the USA there would be no free world

John, it's long been my goal to annex both Canada and Mexico into a United States of North America. It's got a nice ring to it.

Thank you, Mr Hanson

I was withholding judgement on Custard before making my final determination to what clique to assign him in this group.

As always I was my typical polite self up until he chose to align with the kook faction and insult me.

So be it

Now Ben, your 1-liner is kinda iffy, as it lacks definitions.
OTOH your 1-liner is an example of how evolution 'works.

Hopefully we can start discussing those "forbiddensubjects"
together, along with Mehram, and shine some light
on your "God = Nature" notion, given how the folks from
Gobeckli tepe viewed the situation.... some 12KY ago,
with the Abrahamic Idea/l/s still some 7KY in the then
future, asking why it turned out that way.
Take care, Ben.
