Hey Odd!
Just was at Lowes and guess what?
They actually have these little kits now to let kids put together their
own fine wooden toys! It's great to see 8 year olds stepping up and
showing you that they can handle your life's work!
You mad?

While you're at it, use beanbag chairs and a plywood board on cinderblocks for a dining room table. Cardboard boxes make perfectly suitable kitchen cabinets too. > > You mad? Heck no. Those kits looked like quality work to me!
Hey, back in the day I once had fancy cinderblock and board bookcases!
They worked great! They certainly were a LOT stronger and able to
support heavy duty reference material better than any of the crap that
passes for bookcases today. I'll bet you are pretty skilled in creating
fine furniture out of paper covered particle board.

Well, if you're comparing cinderblock and board bookcases to cheap WalMart pressboard stuff, then you're right. But not if you're comparing to quality hardwood bookshelves like what I make. > I'll bet you are pretty skilled in creating > fine furniture out of paper covered particle board. You said it Maple loops! Hey ever been to my website? (actually there
are more than one) Odd has actually been to my website with the fine
maple hardwood drumset I built myself. But he conveniently forgets that
he's been there.
Science is at hypersphere.us although it's currently reduced and my BBB
theory has been removed because there is a mistake in it somewhere
(don't have time to root it out now). I wouldn't want to quote Boinker a
wrong value for the diameter of the universe, would I?
Let's ask Boinker to please check my vector mathematics in my EM paper
posted there. Think he can handle that? Yeah, that's what I thought too!

Odd, when you are as knowledgeable and informed as I, am your walls need
to be lined with bookcases from floor to ceiling...all filled with books
(not textbooks, natch). I'm sure you haven't noticed the current price
of lumber which results in the price or a nice hardwood bookcase capable
of supporting actual science knowledge approaching cosmology levels!
Until Greens like Wormley stop destroying forests the only way out for
civilization appears to be bluRay disks and not particle board covered
in wood grain paper.
Gosh, I don't believe for a second that you obtained all your cash to
afford those bookcases for the rich from the sale of wooden toys. Wooden
toys are so 19th century!

Yes, lumber can be expensive. Quality can be expensive. Quality, availability, low cost. Choose two. > > Until Greens like Wormley stop destroying forests the only way out for > civilization appears to be bluRay disks and not particle board covered > in wood grain paper. Textbooks are stored in cardboard boxes in the basement.

Of course politics modulates all those.

No. Spend thousands on shelves and there's no money left for books! If
you do a Buffet and spend all your time making enough money to buy both
books and quality shelves, then you have no time left to read them lt
along think about what they are saying.

Oh, that's right. Cinderblocks and cheap boards. Got it!

Particleboard shelves sag under load but cinderblock shelves are heavy
to move and the blocks take up needed storage volume. Maybe you can find
a textbook to read somewhere on cinderblock shelf theory so you can
understand this.

Bookshelves? What kind of outmoded fsck-sh!t is a bookshelf? I possess literally THOUSANDS of books. If I had to store them all on conventional shelves they would probably break the building foundation. Paper books are goddamned fscking HEAVY. No. My books are E-BOOKS. I can store thousands of volumes in a single desktop digital drive. Get up to modern times. Dead-tree books are dead. Digital is the new, and only, medium for books.

You need power, heating, and shelter from the elements. But if you want THOUSANDS of dead-tree books you need a $50 million US dollar mansion in the Hollywood hills just to house the collection. Good luck mustering that on your master woodworkers salary. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Be smart. Go digital.

It's 74 F here. Sorry, man. Of course, sitting outside under a tree with a DVD-loaded laptop in a January blizzard isn't exactly fun either. > >>> But if you want THOUSANDS of dead-tree books you need a $50 million >>> US dollar mansion in the Hollywood hills just to house the collection. >> >> Why would it have to be in Hollywood hills? > -- Odd Bodkin --- maker of fine toys, tools, tables
