Ever hear of earthquakes? At the scale involved (continent sized) even
solid rock is flexible to expand or contract a couple cm/year. Also
many plates are being pushed under other plates, particularly around
the Pacific. Or they pile up into mountains (like the Himalayas)

Don't worry, the plates will slide under each other, crunch up against
each other to form mountains and so forth.

Well, the measurements don't believe in you.

beginning.

We know that is wrong from the geologic records.
