Yes, they do, in a sense.

In benzene, and all "aromatic" molecules, the wave function is composed
by adding/subtracting together all the atomic orbitals.  This creates
a wave function that encompasses the entire carbon backbone.

The electrons do not "drift."  The electrons are the extended wave function.
