The Official Failure of sci.physics, Archimedes Plutonium <plutonium.archimedes@gmail.com> writes: >On Monday, June 26, 2017 at 5:16:12 AM UTC-5, Archimedes Plutonium wrote: >Hey Moroney, physics failure says geothermal is disguised solar. Archie, you failure, you really need to quit projecting your own failure to understand what the "This Old House" 'geothermal' systems really are onto me. Get over it, just because you failed to understand geothermal is not a reason to project your failure onto others. And I will note *yet again* that you *still* cannot rationalize permafrost with "geothermal energy". Permafrost in Siberia so old that it still has the occasional frozen mammoth in it, tens of thousands of years old. Real scientists can understand the concept of a long term averaging of temperature, and in a place like Siberia, where it is pretty damn cold, the long term average is well below freezing. But no, Archie Pu, the failure, cannot understand that simple science concept, so he has to make a fool of himself in sci.physics instead. So Failure Archie Pu, answer this: Two locations at about the same latitude, one in Alaska, one in Iceland. You dig down in Iceland and you find lots of heat! Maybe you can build a power plant from the hole!! Dig down in Alaska and you find ICE! Old ice! Lotsa ice! Maybe even a mammoth! What is the difference, Failure? I will give you a clue. One place has geothermal, the other does not! >What crackpot, wrong, but worse, never able to correct his mistakes as >others keep wanting him to do. That is an excellent description of yourself, Archie! You are *never* able to correct your mistakes, instead, you attack, attack attack the person who points out your mistake, and then you project your own mistake onto him! >If hatred was science, Yes, why is it that you hate science so much, trying to drag science down here? >Some geothermal heat comes from:: >Source, Physics of the Atom, Wehr, Richards, Adair >Antimony 122Sb51 2.8 days halflife, beta decay 1.4 MeV >Arsenic 76As33 26.5 hour halflife, beta decay 2.97 MeV >Barium 140Ba56 with 12.8 days halflife, beta decay 1.02 MeV >Bismuth 210Bi83 , 5.01 day halflife, beta decay 1.16 MeV >Cadmium 115Cd48 with 53.5 hours halflife, beta decay 1.11 MeV Stupid Archie, all those isotopes have halflives of days or less, any present when the earth was formed is now long gone. Real geothermal scientists will tell you that the geothermal heat from radionuclides comes from thorium, uranium and potassium-40, all with halflives of billions of years, so there is actually still some around. Of course you can whine that there are isotopes in the U and Th decay chains with short half-lives, but those are produced by the next item up in the chain and considered part of the Th or U energy. Of the ones you list, only Bi-210 qualifies. (hey, this is fun!)
