Yes, if you think about it.  First, like repels like, opposites attract.
Second, the north pole of a magnet was defined by the end which would point
north when free to move (as in a compass).  If you think about it, if
opposites attract, that means that Earth's magnetic pole that's near the
geographic north pole is a magnetic _south_ pole.  And the magnetic pole in
Antarctica is a magnetic north pole.

One of the biggest problems I had in electrical engineering courses was how
the current is defined as flowing from positive to negative. However, I
initially learned of current as electron flow, which moves in the opposite
direction.  So I mentally had to reverse everything when going from standard
current to electron flow and vice versa.  Almost a form of induced dyslexia.

On the other hand, while Franklin guessed and guessed wrong, I vaguely
remember something how there was a similar issue with simple sugar
structure and naming.  There was 16 possibilities but they happened to
guess correctly.
