Yes. Had Einstein never existed, all his work would have been discovered, probably several years later, and probably by multiple different people. Physics would have more scientists well known (to physicists) for discovering one or two major things, and the general public wouldn't have a name synonymous with "genius". What Einstein did was do things before others had a chance, and do so many of those things.
