PLASTIC SCINTILLATOR,POLISHING PROCEDURE

Materials
• NOVUS #3 Heavy Scratch Remover
• NOVUS #2 Fine Scratch Remover
• NOVUS #1 Plastic Cleaner & Shine
• Soft flannel cloth

Recommended Procedure
1. Sand the surface to 1000 - 1500 grit finish suing wet-or-dry silicon
carbide paper. Use plenty of
water in this process, starting with coarse sand paper and progress to
finer and finer grades. Take
care to minimize contamination of the finer grit materials with
residues from the coarser materials.

The following sand paper grits are recommended:
• 120: Starting on very coarse surfaces.
• 240: Starting with machined surfaces.
• 400 and 600: To improve smoothness and to remove some deep scratches.
• 1200 to 1500: To finish before polishing.
2. Moisten a patch of the flannel cloth with the NOVUS #3 and rub with a
swirling motion. Wash
remainder away with water.
3. Moisten a fresh patch of the cloth with NOVUS #2 and finish the
polishing.
4. Clean up using the NOVUS #1 and a fresh patch of the flannel cloth.
