A meteor is an asteroid or meteoroid that enters the Earth's atmosphere.

A meteoroid is a small chunk of something in space. There is no definitive
definition based on size or anything else that distingues an asteroid
from a meteroid other than a meteoroid is smaller than an asteroid.
