Only if you ignore the debris below the plaza level. Anyway, 108,342 truckloads of debris, or 1.5 million tons, were removed from the site. The weight is the right amount for the whole World Trade Center site. Nothing significant was "missing". We went to New York City Christmas, 2001. We went to see "Ground Zero". The site was fenced off but there was an overlook for gawking tourists. At the time (late December) parts of the "bathtub" was empty but there were huge piles of debris. The tops of the piles had been dug down so the tops were about 2 stories below street level but there was still plenty of debris to be removed. I couldn't place the piles but I figure the largest were were the towers were.
