Nope, they were major clues but a disc Earth would cast a circular
shadow and calculating a radius does not PROVE the Earth a sphere.

The point is PROOF and world wide acceptance, not whether or not someone
in isolation got it right early on.

The invention of the telescope made it obvious that celestial objects
were spheres, not discs, which went a long way in getting the theory of
a spherical Earth accepted world wide.

The act of sailing around the Earth put the final nail in the coffin
of the disc Earth theory as it was absolute proof.
