My take is that the AGW scare is starting to wind down due to various forms of evidence coming to the fore, things like doctored figures to bolster warming trends and the fact that some groups invested in global warming have refused to release internal documents that supposedly counter their views. No one with any sense is claiming that the earth's climate doesn't fluctuate, it has been doing so since its formation and will continue to do so well into the foreseeable future. But this business of cherry picking temperature graphs to only show those periods where the temperature has increased has done the AGW crowd more harm than good. Personally I have no problem with educating people of the dangers of pollution, but this "the sky is falling" mantra to support carbon taxation feels more like another wealth redistribution plot than anything else. When you consider that places like India and China are pouring gunk into the atmosphere at a phenomenal rate and are unlikely to conform to any regulations put forth by some feel-good consortium of socialist do-gooders (read Obama et al) the whole thing has a scam-like quality to it. -- dvus
