Baldy or just about anywhere in the San Gabriel range, though one will be hard put to find a "vigin" area anywhere. FYI, most gold is found after big storms and since we haven't had one for years, the pickings will likely be slim. Also as the fire danger is high, many areas will be closed to the public. However, a few hours spent with your feet in a stream with a gold pan, a cooler of sandwiches and a six pack is good for the soul and would get him out of the Walmart parking lot. -- Jim Pennino
