If the process were economical, it would already be being done.

Also, hydrogen combustion, unless you also capture the oxygen, which
increases costs, and exclude air from the combustion, produces HUGE
amounts of nitrogen oxides (smog) because of the high combustion 
temperature of hydrogen.
