The idea of "closing Hormoz" was first suggested to the government of 
Iran by the ex Leader in the year 1990. We Iranians were discussing it 
years earlier than that when we were university students in mid 1970s. 
Everybody would take a look at it and soon would dismiss it as not 
practical.

The reason that in 1990 it popped up again was that Soviets were falling 
and the ex Leader had correctly understood that USA would quickly be 
rude to Iran or any other country in the world with no power to stop 
them. This is how the use of the tool of Hormoz was put forward and 
government was told to see if it worked.

But soon it was clear Iran's missile capabilities and the nuclear 
weapons prowess had not yet developed enough to defend Hormoz against 
Americans' attacks.

A lot of time passed and a lot of newer and newer missiles and nukes 
were made. Iran was another country in about 2020, She had both types of 
defensive capabilities mentioned, and therefore could take Hormoz 
anytime she wanted. But She was hit with Covid and everything came to a 
stop for at least a while.

After Covid was somehow handled, and with enemy spies knowing what Iran 
was fixing to do, enemies plan of attacking Iran came up. This is when 
Iranians realized they had the option of defensively take Hormoz, not 
offensively. The 12-day war provided the opportunity, Iran took the 
steps in earnest to take Hormoz. This was the last day of the 12-day 
war, and when both Israel and USA began begging Iran to stop the war, 
taking Hormoz didn't look very much like a defensive measure.

On the other hand, the 12-day war itself provided Iran with a huge 
amount of data to analyze and improve her aggressive weapons, so again 
the passive weapon of Hormoz was postponed for a few months later.

Iran at last took the Hormoz four months ago, and this strait will 
never, ever stay open without Iranians consent and control. Even nuking 
Iran will not provide Iran's enemies the control of Hormoz.
