The text of his paper is FACT [#], which you keep ignoring and
contradicting with your FANTASIES. It is QUITE CLEAR that you have never
bothered to read it.

[#] Whether that text corresponds to the world we inhabit
is not fact, but it is valid (i.e. not refuted by experiment).

WHAT debate? Einstein chose it as a postulate since it seemed to be true
and uncontroversial.

My guess is that you are interpreting everyone telling you that you don't
understand the first postulate as "debating" it. More projection.

He DID identify the source, Einstein's 1905 SR paper! BOTH sentences are
present in it. The one you mention is in the introduction, the one
Paparios mentions is shortly after the start of § 2.

So you think Einstein's writings are some weird interpretation of
Einstein's writings????

Again, BOTH definitions are present. Paparios' quote is right after the
first postulate quote, § 2.

No, it isn't. That is crap you made up.

It appears you didn't read Einstein's 1905 SR paper, at least not after
the start of § 2.

Maybe so, but it has been controversial for a hundred years. They call it
the "clock paradox" or "twin paradox."

Read the references Hafele and Keating used in their first paper. Their
first reference is:

"l. L. Marder, Time and the Space-Traveller
(Allen & Unwin, London, 1971). This book
gives an excellent historical review of debate
on the clock paradox and serves well as an
introduction to relativity theory."

I have a copy of that book, and it says on page 11:

"But when scientists disagree over fundamentals, in a theory in
constant use, the extent of the hazard is inestimable.
"It is therefore, to say the least, remarkable that one of the most
controversial issues in modern physics concerns the very basis of
Einstein's special theory of relativity, which has long been regarded
as one of the most tested theories in the whole of physics. So far,
special relativity has survived all its tests, and it is taken for granted
daily in thousands of laboratory calculations throughout the world.
Yet some of its most startling predictions, concerning the passage of
time for long-distance astronauts, are still in dispute."

The book then discusses Herbert Dingle and after that it says,

"Many other researchers have been uneasy over the question of
time, in relativity theory, as is evident from the hundreds of papers
that have been published on the subject since the formulation of
Einstein's theory in 1905, though few would support Dingle in
demanding the complete rejection of the theory. Most of the published
work is concerned, in one form or another, with the simple issue of
whether the astronaut's clock and that of his twin brother would
record the same total elapsed time for the astronaut's round-trip
journey to a distant star. Conventional relativists believe the times to
be unequal, the astronaut's time being the lesser of the two, while most
others argue that the twins' clocks would register the same elapsed
time. A third and smaller group of theoreticians believe that special
relativity predicts both results, and it is this group who find the theory
unacceptable through its inconsistency."

People here seem to fall into the "most others argue that the twins' clocks
would register the same elapsed time" group.

There are dozens of papers arguing over the "twin paradox" published every
year.

As I see it, I AM interpreting it as Einstein did. You are NOT.

So, to solve the problem I am trying to understand why you cannot see the
FACTS. Instead, you seem to believe there is no possibility that you can
be wrong, so you twist and distort things to make them fit your beliefs.

As I see it, this is a fight that has been going on for over a HUNDRED YEARS.
But you think it is just me and its a brand new argument. That's INSANE!

Look up the meaning of "negligible". If the effects of gravity are less
than the possible measurement error, it can be ignored.

Error analysis is VERY important in scientific experiments.

No, it is not absurd. It depends on the experiment whether it can be
ignored. For example particle accelerators, you can calculate how much
gravity can affect the accelerating particles over thet time of flight,
and compare that to its velocity at the target. It will be much smaller
than the particle velocity!

Also the high school mechanics experiments with balls or little carts.
If done on a level table, which is is, the acceleration oue to gravity
has no effect on the relative motions. Think of playing pool, "8 ball in
the corner pocket". On a proper level pool table, gravity does not affect
the balls, at least not until they reach a pocket!

Wrong. They could not ignore gravity, and they did not.

Same order of magnitude! The largest gravitational/kinematic ratio is
179/96, not only is that less than an order of magnitude, it is less than
2:1!! With gravitation LARGER!!!

Minor? Its effect is almost equal to the kinematic effect!!! In fact
westbound the gravitational effect was LARGER!

I have to assume you have no idea what any of those numbers mean, if you
actually believe that.

Gravitational time dilation is easier to measure and stronger on or near
the surface of the earth when compared to velocity time dilation. You have
to go REALLY FAST to register significant velocity time dilation.

The Hafele and Keating experiment was really about velocity time dilation.
There was just no way to separate VTD from GTD.

They flew first eastward and then westward because the spin of the earth
has an effect on velocity time dilation. When they flew eastward, their
velocity for VTD purposes was the speed of the earth PLUS the speed of their
aircraft. When they flew westward, their velocity for VTD purposes was
the speed of the earth MINUS the speed of their aircraft. Gravity Time
Dilation was just a complication. They could have measured Gravity Time
Dilation more accurately by staying at home and just putting
one clock atop a building and the other in the basement.

As I thought. You have no idea what any of those numbers mean.

You don't seem to understand how to perform a science experiment.
Due to the fact that airliners fly at altitude, gravity time dilation
is part of the overall GR experiment, and could not be disregarded.
It is of the same magnitude as the kinematic portion.

Mike, poor idiot, there is no time dilation. It's
only some idiots worshipping broken clocks, like you.

No, not quite. GR incorporates a gravitational part and a kinematical part. We just (inappropriately) call the kinematical part SR.

Its like saying GR says 9. Lets split this as 7+2 and call 7 as "GR" and "2" as SR. I hope this clears some things up for you...

Yes, the symmetrical time dilation is clear to me for this experiment.

Where do you see *observable* “*symmetrical* time dilation” there?

You are spinning again Roy...

Yes. And its a tautology: Do it identically, thus they are done identically.
When a clock moves its hand from 0 to 1, it move 0 to 1. Any clock doing this, has moved 0 to 1.

> HOWEVER, due to the FACT

No. When a clock's hand moves 0 to 1, it moved 0 to 1. This is true for ALL
clocks (inertial or not).

> the results are not really identical.

"not really" ?? What does that mean?
If the hands (or display) goes from 0 to 1, its did not "really" do that?
When it displays 1, it really doesn't display 1 ??

> When you take compare time rates BETWEEN frames, you

Badly phrased, but yes. Say my twin is as I, 2 meters tall.
When I "look" at him over there, he "looks smaller"; when he looks at me, he too sees me "smaller". That does not mean that I am taller/smaller than he.
The same thing occurs with time; His ticks arrive at me slower, and my ticks arrive at him slower. Very simple concepts.

When you said that the ground is moving at a speed of -v, how did you arrive at that?
The correct assumption is that the ground is moving at v period.

Wrong Seto. If I am driving a car at v=100 km/hr relative to the ground, ie
relative to a frame of reference in which the ground is at rest, then it is obvious that for a frame of reference in which the car (and me at the driving
seat) is at rest, the speed of the ground will be v=-100 km/hr, period.

You are using the ground as reference for both speeds.....that’s not relativity. In the frame of the car the ground is moving at v=100 km/hr.
