YOU brought up the Lorentz transform when you mentioned that Einstein said if the clock starts moving, it will run slow. I thought you asked that this topic be reserved for the Galilean Transform. In the Galilean Transform, if you moved a standard clock at high speed, its time will still match a stationary clock. Let's examine this Galilean Transform equation, t'=t. Do you see "v" or "v'" mentioned? No! That means that in the Galilean Transform, the rate of clocks does not depend on their speed or velocity, so there is no reason to mention that Einstein guy and his clocks. If you wish to discuss Einstein and the Lorentz Transform, start another topic. This one is for the Galilean Transform, where t'=t, and it does not have any of that silliness where moving clocks slow down and rods get shorter. So let's discuss how the Galilean Transform assures us that moving clocks never run slow or anything, because it's always true that t'=t.

The Galilean transformation equations do not control clocks. They are used to show what clocks are doing.

Instruments, you say, are only >for telling you how to make something or indicating when you should eat >lunch. That's right, Robert. The Galilean transform is a physics MODEL. It makes predictions about what happens under certain circumstances. The Lorentz transform is another physics MODEL. It makes (different) predictions about what happens under certain circumstances. They do not control anything. They predict things. For example, the Galilean transform predicts t'=t. If you accept that prediction as true and apply that prediction to various situations, soon you will realize that every single ideal clock These models don't control anything, they just make predictions. Clocks and rulers don't control anything, they just make measurements. Part of science is to take the models and make measurements, to see which models are the closest to what nature actually does. For example, they make measurements and compare the measurements to what the Galilean and Lorentz transforms predict. For very low speeds, such as everything you will encounter during your life except for light itself, science can barely measure any difference or can't measure any difference. On the other hand, for particles moving near the speed of light, there is a large difference, and in that case the Lorentz transform gives by far a better prediction. But none of this should matter to you, there is no situation that a welder will encounter where the Lorentz and Galilean transforms will predict different things. So, when the Galilean transform states t'=t, that is a PREDICTION. If the universe works using the Galilean transform, that statement will be true, and the two clocks will have the same readings. If it holds everywhere in the universe, it will mean that all standard clocks will display the same time, so the only clocks that can exist are standard clocks displaying the same time and broken clocks.

We are making clocks as we want to. And, hey, take a look at GPS! They indicate t'=t, with the precision of an acceptable error. > If it holds > everywhere in the universe, it will mean that all standard clocks will > display the same time, so the only clocks that can exist are standard > clocks displaying the same time and broken clocks. And the broken clocks indicating, for instance, this moronic time dilation predicted by an insane guru.

Well, I will try to explain this in terms that you use yourself so that you may be able to comprehend what is being said. Suppose that we take two STANDARD clocks and put them side by side. They display exactly the same time. Now we take one of the STANDARD clocks and place it in motion relative to the other STANDARD clock. Einstein and other scientists tell us that now the STANDARD clock in motion has a slower rate than the STANDARD clock at rest. So it is no longer just a STANDARD clock. It is what you need to call a BROKEN STANDARD clock because it no longer agrees with the STANDARD clock at rest. But if we stop the BROKEN STANDARD clock from moving, its rate of time once again agrees with the STANDARD clock at rest, so it becomes an UNBROKEN BROKEN STANDARD clock, which means it is just a STANDARD clock again. I hope this will help you see what is happening.

I don't believe in clocks that are only slower from one frame of reference. If they are slower, they are slower from both frames of reference, as the Galilean transformation equations show.

If they are slower, they are slower from both frames of >reference, as the Galilean transformation equations show. As I stated, the Galilean transform predicts all ideal clocks are in perfect synch with each other, and all will display the same time, always. That's because the Galilean transform predicts t'=t. The Lorentz transform does not have a single time that's the same everywhere in the universe, because it does not predict t'=t. What real scientists do is to run experiments whose results will determine which model is more correct. And guess what? At high speeds, the Lorentz transform's predictions, including clocks that are slower in one frame of reference and not the other, matches the experimental results much better than the Galilean transform. At low speeds, however, the difference is almost unmeasureable. So go ahead and use the Galilean transform, as welders are very unlikely to encounter pion beams moving at 99% of c.

What about photons? Can welders encounter photons? Your equations say that photons cannot exist because nothing can reach the speed of light.

While obviously light travels at the speed of light, how will you apply either the Galilean transform or the Lorentz transform to light? The best you can do is try to measure time from the frame of the photon??? They don't have little clocks. And how does it affect you? I suppose that in the Lorentz transform could say that at c, length contraction goes to 0 and time dilation is infinite, so photons wouldn't experience any time, but again they don't have little clocks, plus how does it affect you?

Well, I don't see photons as little beebees the way scientists do. They are just an abstract idea to me. In any event, since they have no length in the Lorentz equations, they do not exist according to scientists. Photons were invented by Einstein. Like so many of Einstein's ideas, they have never been explained. But I am able to see light, so I am affected in that way. I thought clocks were so important to you that you would have a little clock on a photon, but you say otherwise. So if the little clock does not exist, how does t' exist? You said that the only definition for t' was the time on a clock in S'. Now you are saying that t' does not exist for a photon.

Personally, I am just not interested in it. I do not believe in the length contraction. The Galilean transformation equations do not have a length contraction.

Which is why it is no longer used, it does not model nature well.
