The key in SR is that this dilation is reciprocal. I say your clock is slow, but you say mine is slow. The fact is we are both right. Note you are then going to reference the NIST experiment, but that is an experiment in General Relativity, specifically measuring dilation due to acceleration. Acceleration is not part of SR. This is just getting annoyingly boring, going over the same material repeatedly and you just casually ignoring the facts given to you. Ed

The traveling twin sees his 5 minute egg cook in precisely 5 minutes. The laws of physics are the same for him as for his brother. The traveling twin feels no effects of traveling at 99.5% of the speed of light because the laws of physics are the same. BUT, because time is a VARIABLE in the laws of physics, what the traveling twin measures as 5 minutes is 50 minutes for his twin back on Earth. The traveling twin FEELS no effects of traveling at 99.5% of the speed of light, but he is AWARE that time is running slower for him, because HE VOLUNTEERED for the experiment. AND he can see the pulsar pulsing 10 times faster than it appears from earth. AND he can see the earth orbiting the sun every 36.5 days according to clocks on his space ship. > > > > What does "time slow" mean if there is no EFFECT from time slowing down? > > Slow RELATIVE TO THE TWIN'S BROTHER. That is the #1 DUMBEST belief in physics: http://oldguynewissues.blogspot.com/2018/02/the-10-dumbest-ideas-in-physics.html When they compare times, the traveling twin's seconds will be measured to be 10 times longer than the earthbound twin's. They will agree that, using Earth time, the traveling twin's egg took 50 minutes to cook. Using spaceship time, the earthbound twin's egg took 30 seconds to cook. > > > > > > > > > everything on his ship. If time dilation is reciprocal, how come all experiments show otherwise? How does reciprocal time dilation manifest itself in the Hafele-Keating experiments? They compared their clocks to the clock a the U.S. Naval Observatory, and there was NOTHING RECIPROCAL involved. When time is slowed for fast moving muons, how does the reciprocal time dilation manifest itself? When a GPS clock runs slow due to its speed, how does your reciprocal time dilation manifest itself? The MUONs decay at exactly the same rate as they do while at rest in an earth lab. If you were riding the MUON, it would seem to you that the experimenters clock was running slow. > > When a GPS clock runs slow due to its speed, how does your reciprocal > time dilation manifest itself? > > Ed GPS is not reciprocal because it is not inertial! The GPS dilation is due to accelerated motion, therefore not covered in special relativity. You keep pointing to the WRONG experiments. Ed

Those are rather in freefall and may safely be considered geostationary from a relativity point of view.

You are wrong in thinking they are geostationary. "Each satellite in the GPS constellation orbits at an altitude of about 20,000 km from the ground, and has an orbital speed of about 14,000 km/hour (the orbital period is roughly 12 hours - contrary to popular belief, GPS satellites are not in geosynchronous or geostationary orbits)." Looks like another language problem. GPS orbits are at an angle to the equator. Geostationary orbits MUST BE over the equator and 22,236 miles above the earth. That way the satellite remains over the same location on earth as the earth spins (i.e., it is "geostationary). There is a line of telecommunications satellites over the equator. When a new one is sent up, they generally move an old one into a lower orbit so they can put the new one in its place. Ed

You are not exceeding the allocated curvature gradient, in doing all that. Use a part of your brain visualizing that. The other side.

Same with "allocated curvature gradient." But I DO understand what a "geostationary orbit" is. The question was: Do you? Ed

That has to be YOUR problem, isn't it. Stop lying then, because the "engilsh". Ask people politely what you don't understand. Faster and subject oriented.

Moronel, "accuse the other side for things you are guilty. -- goebbels" Take a look at the crap you shamelessly wrote, lol. It's _his_, not "its", _ _This_, not "that", _with the English_, not "the English" But the real problem, you two sister obviously have is with "the allocated curvature gradient". Which strongly indicates imbecility. I can't help.

The key point is it is a GR effect, not an SR effect. Ed

You are just displaying your ignorance of GPS AND relativity. GPS satellites ARE inertial. There was acceleration to put them into orbit, but once in orbit there is no more acceleration and they are just as inertial as a lab on the ground. Special relativity covers GPS satellites and WOULD cause clocks on the satellites to run slow by 7 microseconds per day if the clocks were not constructed on earth to run faster on earth by 7 microseconds per day so in space they will run at the same rate as earth clocks. " Special Relativity predicts that the on-board atomic clocks on the satellites should fall behind clocks on the ground by about 7 microseconds per day because of the slower ticking rate due to the time dilation effect of their relative motion." You say a GPS satellite is Inertial, which is complete nonsense. All of satellites orbiting the Earth are being accelerated and hence they are not inertial. An object describing a circle, or elipse (like the orbit of a satellite) is being accelerated (a=dv/dt). Notice that the speed of each satellite is CHANGING direction every second, which is what acceleration means!!!!
