No, you have it backwards. Scientists seem to consider me as some sort of enemy, and have from the beginning. Why would scientist Gary Harnagel come into this discussion about the Galilean transformation equations and start deleting the Galilean transformation equations every time he sees them unless he thinks I am his enemy? There is a great difference between the people who were in sci.physics.relativity when I first started posting here and the people who post here now. When I first found sci.physics.relativity, I posted this equation; t'=t-vt/c A scientist named John Anderson immediately said, That is wrong, and posted a bunch of equations with tangents and cosines that proved the equation wrong. John Anderson may have also called me an idiot, I don't remember, but he did convince me that the equation was wrong. There was another scientist named Perti Lounesto, so famous that he had equations named after him, who started calling me an Idiot Jesuit. Perti Lounesto was easy for me to prove wrong. I am not a member of the Catholic Church, so I could not be a Jesuit. I just give these as examples of people I have conversed with in the past. The ones today are all like Perti Lounesto. They do not ever do anything with equations or mathematics in sci.physics.relativity.

In Robert’s way of thinking, becoming convinced of something you didn’t previously believe to be true is not particularly useful. He much prefers a world where there are just different opinions on any particular subject, and you either agree with an opinion or you don’t, and it doesn’t really matter how you arrived at that opinion. In this way, informed and uninformed opinions have exactly the same weight and the main thing is the freedom to hold the opinion. -- Odd Bodkin — Maker of fine toys, tools, tables

Well, I just arrived at some equations by algebra, as horrifying as that might seem to you.
x'=x-vt
y'=y
z'=z
t'=t - vt/c
x = x' - v't'
y = y'
z = z'
t = t'- v't'/c
v'= -vt/t'
v = -v't'/t
So you can delete them like Gary Harnagel is going to do, or whatever you choose.

Not horrifying at all. Just not based on the same reasons to be convinced that other people agree on. You have your own rationale for believing what you do. I think you called it internal conviction. This isn’t compelling to anyone else, unfortunately, even if you believe that should be compelling to any reasonable person. Believe what you like. Share that information on your blog site, like Ken Seto, Henry Wilson, Ben Jacoby, John Sefton, and Ed Lake do. That way you’ll only be sharing the info with people that believe the way you do. Share it here, and you’ll get a lot of discussion from people who don’t. > > x'=x-vt > y'=y > z'=z > t'=t - vt/c > > x = x' - v't' > y = y' > z = z' > t = t'- v't'/c > > v'= -vt/t' > v = -v't'/t > > So you can delete them like Gary Harnagel is going to do, or whatever you choose. > > -- Odd Bodkin — Maker of fine toys, tools, tables

You are saying that you will not allow the correct equations for relativity to be posted in a discussion forum titled sci.physics.relativity. What you need to do is go read the charter for the discussion forum. It says that any person can post any idea whatsoever about relativity in this forum. So you and the other thought police are operating from a false premise when you believe that you can enforce your rule that the Galilean transformation equations cannot be posted or discussed in sci.physics.relativity. > >> > What happens is that I post something about the Galilean transformation > >> > equations, and then people try to get me to retract what I said. > > >> But you're never going to do that, even if what you say is factually > >> incorrect. > > >> > I don't consider that to be conversation. Well, you are here in this discussion of Galilean transformation equations making all kinds of accusations and trying to get me to stop using them. I call you the thought police. If you want more flattering conversation, why don't you go converse with some of these nice scientists who are discussing the length contraction?

The Galilean transformation equations do not have a length contraction. As for me, Robert, it does not make me unhappy to discuss these things with you. In fact it makes me very happy to share with you lots of reasons why I believe in length contraction. Sharing something with someone who doesn’t have that thing is a pleasing thing. It doesn’t make me unhappy that you don’t have these reasons or even that you don’t want those reasons. Sorry I did not think of them sooner. I still probably prefer two sets of Galilean transformation equations, but scientists insist on only having t and t', so I have posted a set of equations with only t and t'. If Gary Harnagel does not delete them, he might see that they work.

What a fascinatingly awful consequence of posting in a discussion group. You do have options to avoid that consequence. You could just not post in a discussion group, with the motivation that this is an extremely effective way to avoid discussions. You could post in a blog for free like so many others here do. They share ideas and no one discusses those ideas at all. You could figure out how to add me to a kill file so that my replies aren’t even visible to you. For that matter, you could add everyone here to the kill file. You could see posts by me and not even open them. A little warning that this requires self control you might not have. You see? So many options available to you, other than begging people to stop replying to you. -- Odd Bodkin — Maker of fine toys, tools, tables

What I said was that I thought you would be happier talking to some of these nice scientists instead of trying to face reality, as shown by the Galilean transformation equations. For instance, here are some equations:
x'=x-vt
y'=y
z'=z
t'=t-vt/c
x= x' - v't'
y=y'
z=z'
t = t'-v't'/c
v'=-vt/t'
v = -v't'/t
No comment from you. See, if you really wanted to participate, you would say, I think these equations are wrong because of such and such. Even Gary Haernagel took time out from deleting equations to comment about why he thought the equations were wrong. But that is of no interest to you. What you want to do is to find fault with me because I invited you to do something less demanding than facing reality. Are you sure you are not a CIA agent? You seem a lot like the guy who pretended to be a Jewish rabbi in Florida.
